Publisher's Summary

Running a dating agency can be a killer....

Shelley Linley is sick of sickos. Yet another prankster has applied to her dating agency. This one says he’s a vampire, and he wants Shelley to help him find a wife. Meeting him for a second interview against all her better judgement, Shelley discovers that he has no clue about women. A shame because he’s super hot, amusing, and has a lot of single friends he could recommend her struggling business to, even if he does say they’re werewolves and demons. She has to help him, even if he’s crazy. If she can ignore his delusions, she’s sure she can help him meet someone.

But when death threats start arriving on her doorstep, Shelley’s not sure she’s cut out for the job...then her dating algorithm states she’s his ideal partner. Now she’s not sure if she should take the risk for love, or run like hell.

Welcome to Withernsea and the Supernatural Dating Agency, for fans of Michelle Rowen, Gerry Bartlett, and Michele Bardsley, who like their humor to have bite.

The Vampire Wants a Wife by Andie Long

If Twilight made it into a Hollywood film then I don't know why this PN romance couldn't! The Vampire Wants a Wife is definitely one hell of a book! I love everything about the story. Vampire, Shifters and Demon overload.. you wouldn't want to miss something this good.

So much potential!

First, I did enjoy this book. It was a quick easy listen.

That said, this story had so much potential. I loved the idea of a century-old vampire coming to a modern dating agency for help finding love. Unfortunately, the book was so short and didn’t have time to really develop the characters, their relationships, and the story line. It could have easily been twice as long. Everything happened so easy and quick.

The sound quality was obviously low-budget and had some volume issues and a hollowness to it. Within the first few minutes you could actually hear voices in the background.

A different narrator could have made this book better. She didn’t have much variation to her voice making it hard to tell who was talking when there were more than one characters in a scene. She also needed to us more inflection in her voice. She didn’t vary much when characters were excited, frightened or mad.

One last critique, the story is set in England and no one had an accent!

In the end, I did like the story so I’m glad I listened.

Supernatural Dating Agency Book 1

It's better the second time around. I like the play on words for the character Lucy's name. Lucy Fur. Similar to Lucifer. As for the narrator, she only changed her voice for one of the characters.

Wasn't to my taste

The Vampire Wants a Wife by Andie M. Long didn’t really work for me. It was okay, but it just wasn’t to my taste. Add in a poorly edited narration, and it just didn’t get any better.

The Vampire Wants a Wife is a rather interesting premise that there’s a secret world of paranormals who want a matchmater. Theo, a vampire, goes to Shelley, a human matchmater, determined to find a life partner. Shelley thinks Theo is insane as she has no idea of the paranormal world she lives in. Once Shelley is convinced, Theo recommends his friends, which sets up the rest of the series.

This first book actually pairs up Shelley and Theo as well and introduces this paranormal world and all its players. There’s a lot packed into a sub-4-hour audiobook. Ms. Long attempts to make this humorous, but it’s not really to my taste. There are moments where I smiled, but there was no laughing out loud. It just seemed so extreme.

Now to the narration. I was totally underwhelmed. More often than not, I was distracted by the quality of the recording. There was the occasional background noise, like someone talking just outside the recording area, and sometimes a buzz (like a fan or air conditioner) in the background. Often there was a slight echo like she was in an empty room with no soundproofing. The actual performance was okay. Ms. Doll attempted accents and different voices for the various characters, but it wasn’t entirely successful. Her pacing is fine, and she does try to emote during the reading, which is sometimes successful and sometimes not so much. I did find that I needed longer breaks between scenes/chapters, especially when the point of view changed.

I can’t say that I’d recommend this book as it really just wasn’t to my taste. I won’t be continuing the series. However, if you like humorous paranormals, this might be up your alley.

Promising start to this paranormal romance series

For a first book in a series, this storyline is off to a promising start! I really enjoyed the idea of a supernatural dating agency, and it was comical how Shelley first dealt with the denial, and then acceptance, of her vampire client. As Shelley acquaints herself with the idea of a supernatural world, intriguing tidbits about her mysterious past and parents come to light. The magical cast of characters are unique with some interesting quirks, and I’m engaged enough to see how the storyline elaborates on the “dating” aspect going forward, as well as Shelley’s acclamation to her new found powers and magical family. Narrator Angela Doll had a very pleasing voice, however, it was ONE voice. It was a tad disappointing that every character sounded the same, which made it difficult to distinguish between characters and dialogue. Because of this, there was a lack of personality given to these characters, which is a shame, because I think they would have been more entertaining as their descriptions implied. This may be one of those instances where the book may have been better reading versus listening, but I’m willing to continue to see if the quality of the audio experience gets better.

Easy Read

Easy story to listen too. Audio performance was just okay, accents were poor and took away from the listening. That being said I am about to start listening to the second book in the series do we will see.

Horrible quality

I honestly couldn’t get passed the first 2 minutes. The quality is horrible and there are people in the background talking. The narrators voice is monotone and boring.

Fun entertaining story

This is pretty funny. I laughed and chuckled mutiple times. Either at her reactions or his time spent with his friends. The ending was a surprise and I loved it.

I listened to this on audio. Angela Doll was a wonderful narrator.

Cute story

Cute story but I had trouble listening because the narrator did not change tone or voice to differentiate main characters so I had some trouble following at times.

Fantastic storyline, terrible narrator

I really loved the storyline. The premise for the story is absolutely genius and I cannot wait for the next in the series. This story will make you laugh out loud and you will absolutely fall in love with it. However, the narrator lets it down. I can hear voices and footsteps in the background, she has the wrong accent and takes breaths when in places she shouldn't. Very disappointing.

Funny paranormal romance

I really enjoyed this book, it was funny and easy to follow the storyline.
Shelly runs a successful dating agency which receives an application from a vampire and a whole new world is opened up for her.
There were some really funny lines for the characters and Shelly's assistant is entertaining on her own.
The narration overall was good, Angela Doll did a good job, he voice is easy to listen to, however there was no differentiation between characters so sometimes it was hard to understand who was talking, also a bit more of a pause between speech might have helped.

Good but narration let it down

I really enjoyed the story, it was funny. Quick moving and slightly different than the norm.

I found Angela Dolls narration not quite upto the task and the sound quality was poor, sounds like she is in a metal lined box. Although Angela has a really nice voice there was not enough difference between the characters.

Easy supe read

Light, easy read. Some sex scenes which weren’t my cup of tea but not too graphic. Liked the narrators voice but there was a slight echo that put me off initially.

Very funny!

This is a really fun paranormal romance. I enjoyed Theo's bluntness about being a vampire and Shelly's various levels of disbelief. It gave the book a funny level of realism before the drama began to unfold.

The plot with Shelly's parents was a bit confusing and I wasn't overly fussed on it. It seemed like a roundabout way to give Shelly magic. But I enjoyed her witch-ness and there was a great creativity with the magic used.

The narration was a bit stiff-sounding, and any British slang sounded awkward, but I ultimately enjoyed it and I'll check out the next book in the series.
