Unkind Hours

Very tense and unpredictable. Never slow in action or suspense. This does not go the way you expect. There are surprises each and every page. Narration is great.

The Unkind Hours

Most of us can only imagine what it would be like to have a child snatched from almost right in front of us. And to be offered your own kind of justice. This is a definite edge of your seat book, however in the beginning i felt the story dragged on getting to know the players. But once the tragedy strikes the book moves at fast pace and you won't want to put it down. I wish a few of the scenes went into more depth and embraced the revenge scenario more. Overall the book is really good and despite the length a pretty fast easy listen. Nice job on the narration.

One man's search for justice and the price he paid

I was glued to the edge of my seat throughout this whole book! As every parent's worse nightmare comes true for one man, he cannot move on until he finds justice for the loss of hus beloved daughter. But just how far will he go to get that justice... and how much will he pay? Being a parent of a young girl myself, this story truly hit home and made me question just what would I do in his shoes? Its a terrifying tale that I just couldn't put down! I went on a rollercoaster full of twists turns and emotional pitfalls... and I can't waitvto ride it again! Between Tom Jordan's magnificent narration and Dwayne Akexander Smith's phenomenal writting there is nothing lacking! If I were to reccomend one book right now.... It would be The Unkind Hours!

Great book!

This book was very good. It’s scary how realistic this is. It’s what any parent would do to find the murderer of their own child. I recommend this book to adults not children. It has graphic parts. The narrator done a great job telling the story.

Wow, What a Thriller!

This breathtaking story was so raw, powerful, and intense. It was extremely heartbreaking and emotional for me. It was so hard for me to get past the beginning while it set up the rest of the story. After that, I was totally invested in what this father was feeling and the actions that took place. This is a riveting, fast paced story with unpredictable plot twists. Narrator Tom Jordan did an outstanding job bringing this story to life. He was so chilling at times, totally creeping me out. But it was his depiction of Steven and all the extreme emotions he went through like joy, heartbreak, desperation, and obsession that kept me enthralled.
This is the first book I've listened to by Dwayne Alexander Smith and this powerful, thrilling story has made me want to find more of his work. If you love unpredictable suspenseful thrillers, you will definitely want to listen to The Unkind Hours!

A powerfully exhilarating and gripping work

The Unkind Hours is a powerfully exhilarating and gripping work, which becomes more and more spellbinding as the chapters progress. It's numerous plot twists kept me guessing, and needing to know what came next. The story is skillfully narrated by Tom Jordan, who brought an intensity and vividness that had you living the story alongside the protagonist. Thoroughly recommended.

Unforgettable!

This was my first Dwayne Alexander Smith's book. This thriller is really well written. I just couldn’t put it down. I rarely listen to this kind of story, because it's just too intense and emotional for me. This was an unforgettable listening, an unthinkable story with an unpredictable ending and maybe an open for a second book. I can't survive a second book like this one! This listening was breathtaking, because of the subject. The narration was amazing. Tom Jordan has the perfect voice for this story. Great listen!

This was a great book! Nice twist! Hope there will be a second one. I love the narrator's voice!

It was hard for me to listen to at first because I am a mom of two young kids but I pushed through and I'm so glad I did. I couldn't put it down

Not Your Typical Child Abduction

WOW! Literally could not stop listening. This thriller will had me wholly engrossed from start to finish and then left me thinking about it for hours afterward.

At the beginning I thought that the author was writing a typical kidnapping story, I was SO WRONG. I was surprised that (outside of the very beginning) we never experienced the story from the kidnapper's perspective. I also really liked that it was from the father's point if view instead of the mother's point of view. However, the mother seemed oddly unemotional about the loss of the child.

The author does kind of leave you hanging at the end a little though, but in the big scheme of things, its relatively inconsequential.

The narrator does an impecable job of bringing out the feelings of the fear, anger, uncertainty, and loss that the main character, Steve, experiences. He also perfectly heightens the creep factor of the eerie stranger. This performance intesified the author's masterful writing.

I received a review copy of the book and have voluntarily left this unbiased review.
