In the remote forests of the Pacific Northwest, a logging crew unearths an impossible fossil: the skull of a creature straight from mythology.

State biologist Caleb Mercer is sent to investigate the find of a lifetime. But this isn't just another dig for him. It’s a return to the dark, isolated range where his wife, Lena, vanished without a trace five years prior.

The discovery is not what it seems. The site is a tomb, and the guardians are still very much alive.

A silent, intelligent predator begins to stalk the team. It disables their technology, erases their data, and picks them off one by one. Cut off from the world by a strange magnetic interference, Caleb and the remaining survivors realize they haven't just found a fossil—they've invaded a sanctuary.

Trapped between a ruthless corporate agenda and a creature of ancient, profound grief, Caleb's scientific mission becomes a desperate battle. To make it out alive, he must confront the truth of what happened to his wife and face a horror that will rewrite natural history.

Ethan Blackwood’s writing should be declared a national treasure… somewhere. “Unicorn?” You sputter. “I thought Ethan Blackwood wrote morally gross & disturbingly frightening tales about horrible monsters.”
Yes, he sure does. Just not here. If you want to read such nightmare inducing fare, check out the book he wrote about Chupacabras. “The Unicorn Graveyard” is challenging & thoughtful & thrilling & is about nothing I assumed it was about. It stayed in my mind for quite a while afterward.

Monstrously unique ~

Kept my attention. Would be a good story for young adults. A modern day fairy tale.

Story is a list of reasons what not to do when finding new animals. Or after finding a new species in general.

Have tried several titles that seem so promising. Story looks good in synopsis, author I may have already followed, but the VV narrations are Horrible. Please, get real narrators.
