The unicorn, one of the greatest of the legendary creatures, is all but extinct in the world with only three surviving in the Black Forest in Germany. At least, there were only three until one impossibly shows up in Hadrian’s Well—the very first to ever be sighted in the Americas. The appearance excites people in a way that rock trolls, brownies, water nymphs, and nosferatu couldn’t—attracting politicians and thousands of tourists to the small town to see the endangered creature. But not everyone has the animal’s best interests at heart and if Undersheriff Donovan and her deputies can’t step up their game, the newest resident of Hadrian’s Well may soon be joining its ancestors in extinction.
