Publisher's summary

After being out of the life of espionage of the Cold War, Dean is thrown back into the world that he got out of after 30 years to only discover that the lines of betrayal and loyalty get crossed. His only goal is to set the unfinished business to business that is finished by any mean necessary, even if it means he has to use his specialty craft of being the chemist. As he travels across continents to set things straight, he discovers a whole new meaning to family.

A very solid, very well read story!

Dean Jacobs, known as The Chemist, during the Cold War had retired from his life as an assassin for an intelligence agency. He creates a new life for himself as a rancher raising beef cattle. A whopping thirty years later he is called back to eliminate the daughter of a man he assassinated all those years ago. Once he gets back to Russia he discovers he has changed just a much as the country and he is reluctant to just kill the young woman without gleaning more information. Things don't add up and Dean is poisoned by his old handler and is saved by the very young woman he was sent to kill. The goal becomes to kill them before they themselves are killed. Along the way, Dean becomes the father figure and trainer of the young woman whose father he killed all those years ago. Please bear in my this review does NOT do the book all the justice it deserves. It's an exceptionally well-written work that is solid, tight, and beautifully narrated. At a little over three and a half hours, this book is well worth every penny. Sometimes you do get what you pay for! I'm looking forward to the next book in the series!
