misinformed
I am only through chapter 5. The reason Iam writing a review now is because of the wrong information I have heard. As someone who is looking for help with addiction this is terribly frustrating and disheartening. Meth, Cocaine and Herion are NOT schedule 1 drugs as the author has stated. I'm sure to some of you this has no relevance but for a person looking for help misinformation is like nails on a chalk board. How can I relate or take seriously a person who thinks they know what they are talking about. If they are wrong about facts that all they have to do is ask google to get a right answer. What else are they wrong about? what other Bull$:#% are they just deciding to word vomit cause it sounds better? Author, did you write this for money or to help people in need? I will listen to the rest although as of now you are discredited in my opinion.

Enjoyed it
Fortunately, I don't have an addiction and I don't have any close friends or family who have a crystal meth addiction either. I received this book for free as I work in social care and want to understand more about what goes through the heads of someone living with an addiction. The author explains in detail on how dark it can get being addicted to Methamphetamine and how it can spiral your life out of control very quickly. I see addicts from time to time with my job and I feel now I can step into their shoes a little bit more and see it from their viewpoint.

Try as I might, there is simply no way for me to minimize the impact with which crystal meth slammed into my life, at least not without straying far from the truth. It was like throwing a forty-pound sledge hammer though a plate glass window. What a cunning thing this was that lived inside of me. How could I ever hope to win against it? My good intentions meant nothing what I lacked was power."

"The first chance I got, I bought my very first bag of crystal methamphetamine... A monster was born.

Nic Sheff was drunk for the first time at age 11. In the years that followed, he would regularly smoke pot, do cocaine and ecstasy, and develop addictions to crystal meth and heroin. Even so, he felt like he would always be able to quit and put his life together whenever he needed to. It took a violent relapse one summer in California to convince him otherwise.

What is motivation? Why do we feel totally paralyzed to do certain things, and utterly unable to quit others? Too many people conclude, falsely, that they are just lazy or lacking in willpower. But what they lack is a correct understanding of their own minds, of motivation, and the way that it operates.
