Artemis and Olivia Cole are a seemingly perfect couple living the American dream, but behind closed doors their relationship is rife with intense conflict, manipulation, emotional abuse, and financial trouble. Desperate, Olivia proposes a controversial plan to salvage and alleviate their financial strain while maintaining their carefully constructed façade of affluence, but when Artemis refuses, it triggers a feeling of betrayal within Olivia that she swears Artemis will regret.

Artemis tries on his own to salvage not only his perceived lifestyle, but his marriage as well, only to endure a series of crises and setbacks in both his professional and personal life that sends him headlong into a downward spiral of depression, and mistrust towards those he loves and who he thought loved him. With seemingly nowhere else to turn, Artemis enlists the help of Deanna Lynne, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor whose unconventional and confrontational methods are designed to break down his defenses, and encourage honesty with himself. With Lynne’s help, Artemis is able to traverse the difficult journey toward liberation, recovery, and the truth. Or does he? After all, the truth is a lie.
