Publisher's Summary

In this sequel to The Pecan Man, Eldred Mims has died in prison after serving time for a crime he did not commit. When Ora Lee Beckworth decides to set the record straight, her confession leaves Blanche Lowery's daughters, Patrice and Grace, to grapple with the aftermath of a lifetime of lies. Now the sisters must reframe everything they thought they knew about their mother, their brother, and the man they knew as Eddie.

Accidental Insight

Because I loved the story of The Pecan Man; I listened to this book. I loved this book and gained, accidental insight into my own need for support, doubling the value of the time spent listening.

Exceptional!

A big "thank you" to Audible for including this author's works in their "included" selections. These books have a comforting tone to them, it warms the soul. These are characters that you care deeply about, thinking of them long after the books are finished. I rate them them right up with "The Secret Life of Bees" & "The Help". Don't hesitate to download them, you too will be swept up by these very special characters.

Great 2nd book

This was a wonderful follow up story to The Pecan Man. The writer knows a lot about addiction and the recovery process. I was very surprised at how much I enjoyed it

I loved this story

I listened to The Pecan Man and was emotionally struck by the story. So much about the characters were so closely described that you could close your eyes and also imagine them living in your neighborhood especially if you were a 70’s child. The segregation, the fear, the secrets, the lies, the addiction all of it was done “out of love” all sounds very familiar to family dynamics anyone could relate too. My heart breaks for Grace in my mind she’s clean sober and finally healing from what happened to her ❤️

GREAT!

I Loved this Sequel. I wish Grace would not have struggled so hard but she overcame her demons and that to me is triumphant! I enjoyed The Pecan Man immensely.

This book and The Pecan Man are MUST READS!

Ms Selleck has done something remarkable. She has drawn the lives of both Black and white people in the deep South, living in a small town from the 1960s to the present, with love and care. Perspectives of all sides are shown, without slight or exaggeration. A tragedy exposes the sharp differences in the lives of both races, and the older white woman gradually comes to see how her life, her perspective is so different from that of her Black maid, who she considers a friend.

There is such love, such depth of experience here. These are real people, facing the struggles of life and coming to grip with their faults in character. We all believe we'd do the right thing when faced with a tough decision, but would we? And would we admit it to ourselves? When is helping not helping?

These two books, The Pecan Man and The Truth About Grace, are treasures. I wish I had written them!

What does sorry really mean.

Loved this book . It is a must listen. Narrator is great. When a young girls life is changed by a violent rape do people involved apologize to give her comfort or themselves?

Recovery Minded

Good listen for anyone interested in substance abuse or co-dependence recovery. You do not need to listen to the first book prior to listening to this one.
