Difficult to stomach

Portrait of a very sick mind. Hard to listen to but well worth the agita. Lack of attention would kill him.

Confirms what I've suspected.

I've had the idea that, as President, Trump only seemed to care about one person, himself. These interviews confirm that fact crystal clear. Trump relies on his own feelings and instincts, not others advice, and seems to believe his opinion should be the only one. Bob narrates well for someone close to 80 years old. Another of his finest works.

Eye opening

The way Bob Woodward has constructed this audio book leaves you with an eye opening understanding of Trump. Woodward largely allows you to just listen to Trump and pops in to provide context and analysis at well placed points. Some of what you will hear is Trump's public voice that you've heard before, but in addition you get a more detailed understanding of how he thinks and works.

Trump, enraged

A perpetually enraged Trump, shouting, interrupting, continually repeating an irrelevant point, is probably not the guy you’d love to listen to, but Bob Woodward did listen, for the most part patiently. This audio book is excellent background for Woodward’s three books about the Trump presidency, Fear, Rage, and Peril.

Unbelievably damning… chilling!

I wish that someone would buy the rights to Bob Woodward’s 20 interviews and hand out copies to anyone and everyone for free…

The utter mental confusion, the unabashed lying, the pure & raw narcissism, the slime associated with Trump’s brain, makes me want to bathe after each listening…

The former guy can’t stay on topic for a minute, without devolving into some bragging or sidetrack that has nothing to do with the topic at hand… Mentally defective would be putting it mildly…

I’ve listened to all the tapes and am amazed at the vulgarity, the crudeness, the narcissism of the former President of the United States… the rest of the world laughed at times, but should have been shuttering about the guy the United States had put in power.

Woodward said at one point that “the American people put you in power to break the norms,” and I think in a lot of ways that that is correct, but no one originally had a real clue that Trump had no idea of law, of norms, or anything to do with wielding power on such an unprecedented stage.

I guess that in some sense this gives me optimism that the United States somehow survived the four years under the most demonic, crude, wannabe dictator that we’ve ever seen…

I am no deist but here I must say: “God Bless America!” because Someone or Something or just the Moral Arc of the Universe was strained to shattering under Trump.

Astonishing!

There was only one way to convey this story: it had to be in his own words, in his voice. I am ashamed to say that I voted for Trump in 2016. I could not vote for him in 2020. I watched both impeachment trials to see what would be said. I watched the coronavirus pandemic unfold. I watched January 6 as it happened. I have watched every Jan 6 Committee hearing. I love our country; DJT can never inhabit the White House again. I have never known anxiety the way I have since 2016. We are one nation under a blanket of fear.

Confirmed Narcissist Former President

Bob Woodward was masterful in his handling of this narcissistic FPOTUS. Trump brought out the worst of himself, he brought out his rage, his intentions for payback to the un-loyal. He truly highlighted that he cares for no one but himself. The worst part is how he idolized Murderous Dictators. He clearly cannot see that he has been played by them and that just escalates the danger to our country. He is fixated on numbers, not people. I do not know how Mr. Woodward was able to keep his composure and just listen. The most compelling confirmation of how dangerous this man is, he has characteristics of a narcissistic social path who lures in people who have disfunction in their life, who are financially strapped, the poorly educated & tops it with religion to lure them in to his ideological corrupt mindset. This is intentional and people need to be aware. He is trading democracy for loyal followers who will go to the extremes to do whatever he says. He wants to be King

Still doubts?listen.

Listen to the authors questions and trumps answers. If this isn’t convincing, very little maybe. He absolutely cannot hold public office again. I appreciated the opportunity to be able to listen to trumps own k words. Those I can share with others if and when I’m ever given the opportunity.

Exhausting

This is a wonderful audiobook by Mr. Woodward.. It is frightening, exhausting; and I believe very truthful. Americans need to wake up and really evaluate the character of any politician they elect.

Tough book to write and listen to.

How Bob went through all those tapes and not say Biden’s famous line, “Would you just shut up man” is beyond me.
