Publisher's summary

Darcy Wright is a closeted lesbian who has been infatuated with her best friend, Taylor, since junior high. Leaving her small northeast Minnesota town for Harvard in a quest to become a doctor, she moves in with med student Olivia Boyd, a neurotic, anal, gigantic pain in the backside. The first year of juggling medical school is gruelling, but it’s nothing compared to living with Olivia.

Coming out to her friends and family with an anti-climactic flop, Darcy uses her newly publicized sexuality to try and win Taylor’s affections through an ill-hatched scheme that crosses uncomfortable lines. The result is as unexpected to Darcy as Darcy’s affinity for medicine is to Olivia.

The first year of medical school is a nerve-wracking encounter in medicine, learning lessons the hard way, and finding what her heart desires.

I tried, really tried

I started this book 3 times, I jumped over chapters, but I gave up. I don’t know how this book went into the best 50 books list, because out of the 1000’s of books I read this is probably one of the worst.
Story is boring. I love medicine stories, but this one is not and the cover messed me up. Narration is like listening to a child, horrible voice. Every person in this books sounds like another 4 YO.
Sorry I can’t take it any more.

Great series!!

These books have the makings of an excellent series that could be continued if the author chose. After both, I was still looking for more. Emotionally exhausting at times, all the parts of the book were very necessary and critical to understanding the depths of the characters. I will def look out for future books from this author! Highly recommended!

Oh my god!!! The never ending novel.

This book could have been finished in half the amount of hours it took. It was so long and drawn out that it started to become irritating. I almost turned it off for good a number of times but I wanted to see what happened at the end and I was curious if it improved but unfortunately, it did not. I'm a little frustrated I wasted that many hours listening to it.

Narrator is awful

My God. This book is entirely too long to us such an irritating narrator. Her voices made me physically cringe and she is officially on my list of narrators I will avoid, even if the book is amazing. I found the parts of the book I enjoyed the least correlated with the times I found listening to the narrator the most excruciating so I couldn’t fairly judge the book unless I paused it and listened back through what I had just heard in voices actual adult humans would use. The book drags at times but has all the drama of Grey’s Anatomy so I was entertained enough to get through it. If the sound of nails on a chalkboard doesn’t make your skin crawl, this is a great book. If you would rather not listen to child-like voices reading sex scenes, I suggest skipping the audiobook and reading this instead.

Way too long

This book is so long, unnecessarily so. Too many "Huh"s and "Ugg"s, I should have listened to my cautionary initial response. I suppose that 25yos and 50+yos don't have much in common, but still. It would have benefitted from being half the duration and language more likely to be spoken by 25 year old Harvard medical students.
Not horrible or irredeemable, but could have been so much better

Oofta

This is a good book if you're skilled in suspending reality. It reads like it was written by a young and inexperienced author, one who has not yet been in the real world. Only seen it through the eyes of Grey's Anatomy. Very hard to keep up with the settings as the timeline jumps and skips with little to no warning. The narrator's voice doesn't help this feel less like a teenage medical drama, one of low teen wolf quality.

The best Love story

It was it best. Going to listen to it many more times!!! I loved how I could relate to the characters. The build-ups throughout the book were magnificent.

Deep

I’m writing a review because this book doesn’t have many and it deserves more. The character development is incredible and the more I listen to works by this author the more I realize how talented she really is. The second book was even better than the first and the first was incredible. Don’t wait to listen to this combo.

Medical romance

The characters of these books were varied. The second book could have been much shorter- multiple repeated thoughts and exchanges.

Wonderful (Listen to the books in order.)

Two books but one beautiful interlinked story about growing into adult lesbian women and doctors. These books have everything: humour, hot sex, friendship, misunderstandings, tears, heart ache and joy. Though, most of all, they speak about the development of trust and profound love.

Camryn Eyde is an accomplished writer, a great storyteller who is able to convey the detail of emotion particularly well. The narrator did a really good job too.

love and inexperience

beautiful tale of an innocent pure but clumsy young woman who wants to be a doctor, meets a tortured soul at med school, there is every emotion possible as these women maneuver between study and hearts, so sad so funny so utterly lifelike.
