Publisher's summary

Sergeant Heath “Tick” Hawthorn, the best tracker in Mandrake Company and the captain’s right-hand man, has been admiring microbiologist Lauren Keys from afar for months. Unfortunately, she’s dedicated to her science and doesn’t seem to have any interest in relationships. He’s not even sure she knows his name.

Determined to change that, Heath develops a surefire plan: He signs up to be a specimen in her latest study. Once she gets to know him better, he’s positive she’ll find his charms appealing.

But when he starts hearing other people's thoughts and receiving eerie premonitions, he questions the wisdom of turning himself into a lab rat. On a mission planet-side with Lauren, they finally have some time alone together, but he’s too worried he’s turning into a freak to be charming. Further, the outing soon turns dangerous, as predators and bounty hunters show an interest in the party. If he and Lauren aren’t careful, they’ll end up dead instead of dating. Maybe Heath's plan wasn’t as surefire as he thought.

Happy Tick finally gets his HEA

I really like Tick/Heath he’s so sweet and considerate. Unsure of himself, yes, very. I find it adorable, because he is definitely deprived of flirtatious interactions with the opposite sex, being a mercenary. It’s funny listening to him out of his element.

Lauren was a little too judgmental for my liking, But if you like Sheldon (TBBT) type personalities I guess you will find her quirks funny. It’s funny at times but mostly awkward. It gets really awkward during intimate dialogue, because it seems too scientific and robotic, not hot and steamy.

Although I appreciate the characters so much and enjoy Lionsdrake’s books, this one wasn’t my absolute favorite. I’m holding out hope that Striker’s crazy butt will get his HEA.

It’s a Sweet Boy Meets Girls Story

If you’re looking for a good story about integrity, loyalty, action-packedpacked plots, wit, and characters that are very easy to like or dislike, this is a great series. As I was reading the books, I actually stopped and laughed out loud at some of the quips and wits of the author. The interaction of the romantic portions certainly makes your cheeks pink and draws you right in. Lindsay‘s (true name of author) characters are endearing and you end up really enjoying the relationships and the dilemmas of the characters. This is an author I have enjoyed for a long time under her real name. Under her real name, her series are amazing and I have enjoyed listening and reading them over and over.

Disappointed

I have liked the Mandrake Company series, and the narrator was good. However, I could not finish this one. I liked “Tick” character, but could NOT stand the lead female. She’s an self-absorbed intellectual snob. Basically she’s so focused on “her work”, doesn’t believe anything or anyone outside of that is worth her time or consideration. Don’t care if she ends up getting her head out of her butt, Tick’s a good guy and deserves better.

Great story, great series

I have been enjoying the adventures of the Mandrake Company, and the trouble they get into and out of. The author has a wonderful way of telling a story, that I have enjoyed in different universes. It is good to finally see women being an equal partner in a story, especially in science fiction. The mix of action and “naughtiness” is well balanced and intertwined perfectly. The narrator is excellent. I highly recommend this book and series, but if don’t like “naughtiness” in a story you may want to think twice. I hope there are a couple more adventures with The Mandrake Company at some point in the future...maybe Viktor and Ankari going to her family’s planet

Tick's Seduction

This is an amusing tale of the Tracker's hunt for the elusive Laurel's undivided attention.
Laurel is very focused on her research to the point she had shelved her sex drive years ago. I am sure she had desire for men at one time but no one really took the time to court her in a way that turned her key.
Tick is a devoted hunter and he has his mind and possibly his heart set on Laurel. He nearly caved in several times because Laurel is blunt when talking about her lack of a sex drive. While Tick burns for her alone.
But what Tick doesn't know is he makes her feel safe. Or that Laurel is enchanted with the smell of his skin and the touch of his hands.
Tick's flirtation is rapidly becoming a romance and Laurel is playing for keeps.
This is an inside view of how a "cold natured girl" becomes warm and how "a one and done" man becomes a keeper.
Fascinating!

Don’t want it to end

This has been an excellent series. I am hoping that book 6 won’t be the last. I like the fact that the heroes have quirks and not so perfect macho men. The heroines are self-confident and independent. The adventures are exciting and real ‘page turners’ to get to the resolutions.

bummer no more in the series 12/18

really enjoying this series on audible, even more so then reading as the narrator is great at getting you into the moment and bringing the action alive without being to overdramatic.
hopefully there will be more coming.
