Publisher's Summary

There are reasons we fear the night. Bill Ryder STILL isn’t one of them.

This omnibus edition contains the final four books of the best-selling Tome of Bill series.

Includes:

Goddamned Freaky Monsters (Book 5)

An ancient evil, the last remnant of a cult thought long dead, is about to cut a swath of destruction through the world not seen since biblical times. Bill Ryder’s only chance is to muster his friends and every last bit of attitude he can - because if he fails, Hell on Earth will become far more than just a corny saying.

Half a Prayer (Book 6)

Bill’s been branded a traitor by the vampire race. Now he finds himself fighting off enemies from all sides while warring with his feelings for the woman he loves. Talk about lousy timing for introspection. Bill must rise to the destiny he’s been trying to deny - because if he doesn’t, his love life will be the least of his worries.

The Wicked Dead (Book 7)

Ordered to storm the vampire stronghold in Boston, Bill must approach the doorstep of the invincible undead warlord he’s destined to face. If he stands tall and faces his fate, the world might just have a chance of surviving. If he fails, an unquenchable evil will destroy everything he knows and loves. Why can’t the end of the world ever be easy?

The Last Coven (Book 8)

A goddess returned, a war between primal powers, and a prophecy to fulfill. It’s finally time for Bill to master his powers, sort out his relationship woes, and figure out how to survive his date with destiny. Because if he can’t get his act together, the curtain will fall and mankind will be forever plunged into everlasting darkness.

Join Bill in these tales full of monsters, mayhem, and foul-mouthed laughs.

If you enjoy Jim Butcher, Shayne Silvers, or K.F. Breene then you're in for a bloody good time.

great story

Still a great story from the first half of the series. The narrator still hasn't learned out to pronounce "Super Saiyan."

I love Bill, his merry bunch, and so will you!

I can't count the number of times I have listened to this collection since it's release and sung its praises, the previous one comprises books 1-4, plus Sally's Sunset Strip. I love them that much. Rick Gualtieri as writer and Christopher John Fetherolf as narrator (Trish McKinley for Sally's story) make for a fantastic combination. I just converted my boyfriend too (he just started volume 2 of Scary Dead Things and is loving and laughing every minute) , who doesn't generally fall in love with audio books though is a lifelong bibliophile. He's a gamer and I love sci-fi and fantasy television, this series is one of the first gifts of entertainment we've mutually enjoyed. Thank you Rick G and CJF!!! Also I've recently delved into The Strange Days series continuing Bill's completely epic saga a few years later with the release and look forward to more there. Keep it up. Pretty please? With sugar, whipped cream, a cherry and a drizzle of blood infused chocolate on top?!?! ! Whether you are a lover of good narration, snarky comedy, good character development, or sci-fi and fantasy, or some combination thereof ... This series delivers and truly satisfies, with or without blood drenching it. I promise you won't regret the purchase.

This Narrator did not go to UCLA

I mean come on. How can someone not know how to say "Massachusetts", It's one of the first 13 states to join the union.. I MEAN COME ON DUDE!!!!!! WTF is "MassaWhosettes". To Rick Gualtier: Why would you want to keep employing this hack "Christopher John Fetherolf", to record your books??? Obviously he doesn't have a complete grasp of the English language.

Great book, right up to the last 5-10 chapters

I enjoyed most of this book, even though the primary protagonist intentionally makes childish choices and insists on holding long conversations during “every” fight. When the final confrontations began, I was sorely tempted to just stop the book.

Brilliant!

I just binge listened to the whole tome of Bill. It really is a fantastic story, I love that almost everyone is an asshole and yet you love them all. It had a great mix of comedy, stupidity and heartwarming shit to keep me listening for hours. Enough twists to keep it interesting and enough dad jokes to keep you groaning. Enjoy!

Garbage

Same old nonsense and garbage. The only thing that is worth it is the characters smart comments.

Bill the Legendary Freewill

Goddamned Freaky Monsters written by Rick Gualtieri & narrated by Christopher John Fetherolf. I believe this book is where the story is starting to peak, I finished the book and I usually write the review right after, but I wanted to listen to the next book more than anything. In this book we find out what Bill brought back with him during his escape. The Destroyer is an ancient warrior and he’s out for blood! How will Bill and friends live through this? What are some things that I’ve enjoyed about this book? This book was a transition book I have a feeling the next book will probably be the peak of the story or the book after. Being in Switzerland with the Dracula’s was cool to hear about, I think Alexanders room with the heads was interesting. Imagine a telling of how each of those heads were captured in order to add to his collection. Bill was in his evil form for about three months, I wonder if when he taps into it in the future will he be able to hold it for long periods of time unlike his blood power ups. What are some things that I didn’t enjoy about this book? Evil Bill taking a break, after all he’s been through and things to come why take a break? I still think that it’s strange to be in the fifth book and Bill still isn’t really any stronger from the first and second book. The villains are getting stronger, but Bill & friends are just lucky. I like the narrator for Bill buts I don’t understand how so many pronunciation errors made it through the finished product. This is the fifth book I’ve listened to from Rick Gualtieri. I’m really enjoying the so far, I kind of don’t want it to come to an end. I must admit this book didn’t seem like it was rushed like the last. I purchased book 1-4 via a bundle I have enjoyed reviewing these books I will continue on with books 6-8. Half a Prayer written by Rick Gualtieri & narrated by Christopher John Fetherolf. Things are getting crazy in this book, new rivals for the vampires, the Destroyer, & who knows what else is in store for Bill and friends. We’re starting to learn more about Sally she’s really being developed, and I can’t imagine the story without her at this point. I thought the last book was action packed but this one takes the cake I can only imagine it getting better in the next two books. What are some things that I’ve enjoyed about this book? Gan is back! She’s easily becoming one of my favorite characters. James on the battlefield was awesome, he’s another one of my favorites and it’s about time we got some good action with him. This is probably the first time the Dracula’s was in action and they live up to their name I just wish we got a little more detail of them fighting since it took six books to get action out of them. That kiss near the end I’ve been waiting for that since they because close friends. I know he have another love interest, but I just don’t like them for each other. What are some things that I didn’t enjoy about this book? I can’t say there was anything that I didn’t enjoy about this book. I’m happy for the Trio Bill, Tom, & Ed but at the same time I feel like the only relationship that I’m satisfied with is Tom’s. I think Sally & Bill should be together as well as Sheila and Ed they just seem more compatible to me. This is the sixth book I’ve listened to from Rick Gualtieri. I’ll say it once again this series is really taking off near the end and I can’t wait to get into the next book. The characters are being developed well except Bill but I feel like he will get where he needs to be. I purchased book 1-4 via a bundle I have enjoyed reviewing these books I will continue with books 7-8. The Wicked Dead written by Rick Gualtieri & narrated by Christopher John Fetherolf. This time around Bill and friends are put to the task of taking care of the Destroyer! Bill has to settle things with Evil Bill before facing the Destroyer. Sally was compelled by none other than Alexander the Great to forget Bill & his friends & Christie found out something that could have made her not want to be involved with Bill and friends. Once again we’re in a place sitting at the edge of our seats trying to figure out how they are going to succeed. What are some things that I’ve enjoyed about this book? Bill is really stepping up to me, he faced his evil self, he faced the destroyer, and he actually made the decision to give up his life to save others (When I say give up his life, this isn’t a spoiler just a few times he was willing to do so). We got a full fight scene with Evil Bill to actually gauge his true strength. Gan is legendary in my book, she always comes in right when she’s needed. I was in disbelief when Alex was compelled that caught me off guard. With all the build up of him being the strongest person in the book the ending really surprised me. What are some things that I didn’t enjoy about this book? Bill and Sally, after all these books I don’t think it was fair for Evil Bill to knock Bill out after he fought Turd. I feel like quite a few cans of conflict were opened in this book and I don’t think one more book will wrap the story up well but I could be wrong since the next book is a little over eighteen hours long. I still don’t really understand why they want Ed so bad, I get his an anomaly but what’s his purpose, I feel like Ed is more important that Sheila at this point. Bill is also getting kind of dark or numb it’s out of character for him, he kind of just shrugged the dudes he brought along to help after lying to them about what was going on. This is the seventh book I’ve listened to from Rick Gualtieri. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, between the banter, action, conflict, and mystery I must say I can’t wait to listen to the last book. The reveal of the actual first really caught me off guard at the end of this book. Bill actually seemed a little more mature in this book as he’s realizing how serious things really are. I purchased book 1-4 via a bundle I have enjoyed reviewing these books I will continue with book 8. The Last Coven written by Rick Gualtieri & narrated by Christopher John Fetherolf. You know the villain must be something terrible when she’s the main concern over Alexander the Great! There is trouble coming from every direction in this book. Ed is missing, Tom is having a weird issue with his body, Sally just got back to reality, Gan is Gan, & Sheila and Bill must fulfill the prophecy. Bill the legendary freewill came to an agreement with his dark side and it’s time to put that power to the test. Sad to say it’s the end of this saga but it will go out with a bang. What are some things that I’ve enjoyed about this book? I really enjoyed the action in this book, we got to witness all the top dogs going all out. I finally got what I was waiting on Bill coming to an agreement with his dark side. Gan really lived up to who she made herself out to be, the adopted daughter of a conqueror. Bill came a long way from the first book, he’s really matured, and I couldn’t see this story being made with anyone other that Bill Ryder. What are some things that I didn’t enjoy about this book? I think this book was rushed because a lot of things just happened without much reason. I personally didn’t enjoy the ending, sure some of it I was happy to hear but it couldn’t have been better. For such a powerful villain I feel like The White Mother/IB was just killed too easily to be the original. I feel like it was the same amount of effort put into killing the Destroyer. I’m sorry for this spoiler but how does it go from book 7 Sally having strong feeling for Bill while they were trying to break her out of being compelled, Sally having sex with evil Bill after beating Turd, to the end Sally saying I think I’m going to get with Ed now. I really expected her and Bill to end up together after all of the build up between them. This is the final book in the Tome of Bill series written by Rick Gualtieri. I thoroughly enjoyed the series; I believe it took me two weeks to complete all eight books. The narrator did a really good job can’t imagine Bill having another voice actor. My only gripe with the narrator was the way he pronounced a few things. I fell as though the books weren’t listened to before they finished the project. I purchased the books via a bundle I have enjoyed reviewing these books I would definitely recommend them.

Again one criticism

As with the 1-4 books Bill doesn't seem to grow much as a person, this time he is contrasted with another who doesn't change. This may sway some to the unchanging nature of Bill. I still would have liked to have seen him change and that is why I held bad that final fifth star on story. I still greatly enjoyed these books and read other books by the author. I felt the series had a satisfying pay off with one small exception which I won't spoil and that isn't a criticism more of a please Mr Fetherof one more hit I need one more and you know about who.

enjoyable

I really enjoyed the series from book 1 right through to book 8. I am a little disappointed that I have now finished them as I now have to try and find something that is going to keep me engrossed and wanting to listen at every opportunity. This is not a book for children to listen to due to the strong language but it is also the thing that makes it more realistic and not just someone reading a story to you.

Twilight meets Monty python.

Good if childish storyline spoilt by a narrator who either cannot read or an author who cannot spell. "Height" was pronounced "heighth" on numerous occasions, "vampiric" was pronounced "vamprick" "shone" pronounced "shown" and many other mistakes were made with the narration which made the book very hard to enjoy. On the positive side, the characters were well created and well defined, and the story was funny and ran at a very fast pace.

Frickin loved it

I had been put off reading these books initially because the covers did not appeal (yes I am that shallow). But at my wits end to find something to read I bit the bullet. This is simply fantastic. Very funny and just makes the nerd in me look a little less nerdy. The whole series was a blast. I loved it.

the Tome of Bill 5-8

I love this book from start to finish the characters a well written and lovable. The narrator did a great job with the narration of the book and last but not least the author did a great job with the story and the characters
