High on a mountain top in an isolated region that is North of Salalah, in the Sultanate of Oman, lies the Tomb of Job, a prophet in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. My journey is to take me to this tomb, a journey that will take three hours by car, but a journey that will take me on a mystical voyage to a time long gone, to the time of the queen of Sheba and other such figures in the Classical Age who themselves visited the Tomb of Job on pilgrimages, for this site has been a place for pilgrims for many millennia.

To make my own pilgrimage I drive my car up steep mountain roads. There is, however, no traffic at all; strangely enough I do not expect any for I feel that for me this is to be a solitary pilgrimage at the end of which I am to learn something of great value that will sustain and nurture me for the rest of my life.

As I climb steeper into the mountains I am confronted by clear, brilliant, blue skies that have been borne on the winds that have arrived from the African continent. To my left is a small opening, and I know intuitively that this is where the Tomb of Job lies, a holy place whose twisting rock pathway has been smoothed by the passing of time and by the armies of pilgrims who have trodden this path since time immemorial. For this place is a mystic site and has always been. So I continue on my own mystic journey, and I am soon to learn why the hand of fate has brought me here....

I enjoyed this little story, I was left wanting to find out more of the background behind the author’s work. I pray the love and tolerance Mr. Allen conveyed finds root in all his readers. I respectfully also pray that Christians work to open dialogue with all Muslims, letting the light of Jesus shine in a dark place. Mr. Allen is however mistaken about sharing one God, I urge anyone reading this to use this book as a springboard to find those differences, not for disagreement, but to understand that Christians need to reach these brothers and sisters with the peace and love of One True God. There is no hope found anywhere else.
