Publisher's summary

Eleanor Murray will always remember her childhood on Edisto Island, where her late father, a local shrimper, shared her passion for music. Now her memories of him are all that tempers the guilt she feels over the accident that put her sister in a wheelchair and the feelings she harbors for her sister's husband.

To help support her sister, Eleanor works at a Charleston investment firm during the day, but she escapes into her music, playing piano at a neighborhood bar. Until the night her enigmatic boss walks in and offers her a part-time job caring for his elderly aunt, Helena, back on Edisto. For Eleanor, it's a chance to revisit the place where she was her happiest and to share her love of music with grieving Helena, whose sister recently died under mysterious circumstances.

An island lush with sweetgrass and salt marshes, Edisto has been a peaceful refuge for Helena, who escaped with her sister from war-torn Hungary in 1944. The sisters were well-known on the island, where they volunteered in their church and community. But now Eleanor will finally learn the truth about their past: secrets that will help heal her relationship with her own sister and set Eleanor free....

Sisters- a little piece of heaven and hell

What did you love best about The Time Between?

This is a great story with an even greater mystery. The story line between two sets of sisters sets the tone of the story with a little hint of love story in the background. I love the development of the character, but missed the deeper development of the history of WWII and what could have been written in a bit more detail.

What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

All three narrators did an outstanding job!!

Any additional comments?

Worth a credit, you will be transported into different worlds and enjoy really good writing.

Take me there

The beautifully drawn locale sucked me in more than the characters. I found myself planning a vacation to Charlston, wishing I could inhabit the old mansion and smell the sweetgrass. This is a great book for taking a virtual trip and steeping your senses in the coastal south. I was grateful for the dual narrators. The variation really have life to the two main characters.

Karen White Never Dissapoints!

I am so happy I rediscovered this author! This was a beautifully narrated, richly textured and moving story! I thoroughly enjoyed the characters, plot, with suspense and a nice little touch of romance!
This was a book I never wanted to end!

Sing Song Narration

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I have only gotten 4 chapters in and I am returning this book. The story sounds like it has potential but I really cannot get past the narrators cloying sing-song delivery. It is so distracting and annoying...I just cant.

Another excellent Karen White story!

I loved this tale of sister devotion, of flawed characters whose goal, whether they know it or not, is redemption from the grave mistakes they've made throughout their common and not-so-common lives. Highly recommend.

Beautiful, Touching Story !

I had heard two other of Karen White's books, On Folly Beach and The Beach Trees, and really enjoyed them. I thought, this is an author from whom I would really like to hear more.
I LOVED The Time Between. It was so unpredictable and a beautiful story of sisterly relationship and healing. I can't recommend it enough !

The narration is a negative

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

It was ok. Would I demand my money back, no it wasn't that bad. It just wasn't that riveting or surprising in the end. The entire book builds up to a secret. Then I just thought, that was it? All the narration is really distracting. Sometimes I couldn't even tell what character part was speaking. I personally did not care for Helena's voice reading at all. She seemed to be too blasé and made me dislike her even more.

Would you be willing to try another book from Karen White? Why or why not?

Yes, I don't judge authors by individual books.

Would you be willing to try another one of the narrators’s performances?

No.

Do you think The Time Between needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

No, not necessary.

Any additional comments?

This entire book just didn't fit well together, the story of the two sisters, being compared to the other sisters. I didn't get it. It passed the time for me, and I did read all the way to the end but was left with a disappointing feeling at the end.

loved it.

Worth the time. I hated for it to end. I hope that there will be a continuation of the lives I feel are now friends.

Beautiful!

This story captivated me from the beginning; it is full of wisdom for the readers along with the characters providing healing. I will re read this for its healing and forgiveness power!
