Publisher's summary

The president knows it's a perilous, high-risk assignment. If he gives the order, he has the opportunity to take down a global menace, once and for all. If the mission fails, he would face certain impeachment, and the threats against the nation would multiply. So the president turns to the one team that can pull off the impossible: Will Robie and his partner, Jessica Reel.

Together, Robie and Reel's talents as assassins are unmatched. But there are some in power who don't trust the pair. They doubt their willingness to follow orders. And they will do anything to see that the two assassins succeed, but that they do not survive.

As they prepare for their mission, Reel faces a personal crisis that could well lead old enemies right to her doorstep, resurrecting the ghosts of her earlier life and bringing stark danger to all those close to her. And all the while, Robie and Reel are stalked by a new adversary: an unknown and unlikely assassin, a woman who has trained her entire life to kill, and who has her own list of targets - a list that includes Will Robie and Jessica Reel.

Still missing Mitch Rapp but this helps...

I'm still missing Vince Flynn and the unbelievable Mitch Rapp series. Nothing came close. The Will Robie series is helping to bridge the gap. The characters are believable and the narrators are really good. This particular book had a number of different story lines running but did a great job in keeping me in suspense. I'm looking forward to the next book.

Not up the great standard of Baldacci.

A good read. Baldacci has created such a high standard. I expect all of his books to meet or exceed when I read one that isn't the best ever I am disappointed. Still better than most.

Well done!

Well written, voice acting is damn near perfect, not over the top. Very well done.

Another excellent Will Robe story!

A well written story that holds your attention from start to finish. The narrators were excellent as usual. The only weakness in the proformance was what I percieved as some uneven audio editing. It was a bit annoying. That aside, it is a well written action packed story that I am pleased to have purchased and greatly enjoyed.

Drop, Like, Loved

This is the one that really blends Leon: The Professional with the punch to the gut of a summer action movie!

Drop: Not sure the tangent on Reel's father and the neo-Nazis was necessary. It detracted form other story lines that were of greater interest.

Like (a lot): The developing friendships. Julie and Reel. Reel and Robie. Robie and Blue Man.

Loved: The Target. Once you discover why the book has this title it captures not just your mind but your heart.

Best of Baldacci

Where does The Target rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Among all the audiobooks I have listened to would be impossible to rank, I have listened to so many, but among the mystery/espionage/thriller genre, it is right at the top of the list.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes....especially at the end because although I thought I knew what the killer was going to do, I was not sure.

Which character – as performed by Ron McLarty and Orlagh Cassidy – was your favorite?

Julie, the teenager

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I think it is the only book of this type, and I know the only Baldacci book, that has ever made me cry. My heart broke at the ending.

Any additional comments?

I felt like Robey and Reel (not sure of spelling since I listened) became believable characters in this third installment of the Robey series. Loved it!
