Marissa doesn't understand why; she's never heard her mother talk of such a place. In Maine, Marissa is thrilled to discover a family she never knew she had. But the family isn't what she thought, and helping her grandmother keep her share of the family fortune might cause Marissa to lose the only man she's ever trusted enough to love.

Contrived story, flat characters

I kept listening hoping it would get better but it never did. The storyline tried to be heartfelt with a tragic backstory but it sounded like a 15 year old girl's diary entries. I wanted to be sympathetic to the main character and her struggle to overcome a terrible past, but the characters and their interactions completely lacked depth. I was never able to feel anything but embarrassed for the story. It had good potential, it just came together like a wooden Pinocchio attempt at what it was trying to be. In spite of that the narrator is truly talented.

Perfect blend

The Talking Tree is a perfect blend of soul wrenching pain, moving on, duty to family, & true love. The author also threw in several unexpected twists. No cliffhanger!! The audiobook has good sound quality & the narrator did a great job!

A good read

This is the first book I've read by this author, and I plan to read more. A very good story with well-developed characters. Very well written.
