Editorial reviews

Breatrix Potter’s timeless tale of mouse couple Hunca Munca and Tom Thumb continues to elicit gleeful giggles from young listeners. Delighting at the sight of a dining table set for supper, the mischievous mice sneak into an elaborate dollhouse, full of prim and trim lifelike miniatures. Outraged to discover the food is nothing but plaster, the rascally rodents fly into a frenzy, wreaking all manner of havoc on the miniature mansion. English actress Janet Maw eloquently captures the seamless interweaving of manners and mischief that runs throughout Potter’s piece. Maw’s musty Victorian diction belies a warm, playful affection and impish intrigue, sure to invite cheers and chuckles from young children.

This is another great reading by our favorite Potter narrator, Pauline Brailsford. It is not narrated by John Cunningham as listed in Audible (as of June 2021).
