If you like the rat you'll like this one

This is another good book in the series. It isn't deep, in fact the plots are pretty flimsy. The draw are the great characters Slippery Jim and Angelina are just plain fun to read about. It is fun along the way of a sci-fi version of ocean's 11. it is fun to see how they pull off the impossible.

The books are old and pretty dated, but as a story they hold up. In particular my 12 year old daughter loves these much as I did when I was around her age. This is not only a fun book but one you can read with the kids.

Stainless Steel Rat

I rewad all of the Harry Harrison books as a young man and was fascinated to see they were still available. I have now bought most of them and have enjoyed them as much as I did more than 40 years ago

Tongue in Cheek

This is a tongue in cheek humor adventure Sci-Fi. James (The Rat) is a neat character and his wife is an even better character. A lot of the stunts are funny and you see them coming before they happen. Some of the jokes get repeated a little too often. The plot is not complicated, when there is a plot. This was written nine years after the first Stainless Steel Rat was written and the improved writing shows, although I think I wrote something like this in the 8th grade. This is one of those kind of stories that a kid would enjoy writing and reading. This is feather light reading and sometimes that is what you want.

I prefer the HH's more serious stuff such as the Eden series (all three books are great). I also liked Captive Universe and Hammer and the Cross. Hammer and the Cross is the first of a series, but you only want to read the first book.

I am not sure I have heard this narrator before and he did a great job.

Top Notch Story, Top Notch Performance

Harry Harrison delivers another exciting and witty novel and Phil Gigante delivers another flawless performance. All other audio novels I have listened to since pale in comparison to the first four Stainless Steel Rat works.

Too Much Set Up

The last book was fast paced and full of content, but this one consisted of Jim hiding in a desert for 3/4 of the book.

second book and fun one

Harry Harrison has done it again with this second offering in the series of the Stainless Steel Rat. Some parts of the book will seem dated to a modern reader / listener, but it's still a lot of fun. If you liked the first one, this one is slightly better!

A terrific adventure!

Harry Harrison is a childhood favorite of mine, and I have always enjoyed the escapism of the Stainless Steel Rat stories. This is among the better ones. The reader also did a good job.

One of the weaker plots, but narration saves it.

I always thought "Revenge" was the weakest of the Rat books, and this reading hasn't changed that theory. Don't know why, but it just doesn't seem to be the same kind of helter-skelter romp that the others are.

The Grey Men are excellent baddies, and the Cliaandian sections are fun, but overall it isn't quite as coherent as some of the other Rat books.

Once again though - Gigante's reading pulls it above the average, and his enthusiasm takes you to the same places the Rat has been. It's worth getting these books just to see how a real reading should be done.

Brilliant story, well read

As ever a high quality story from Harry Harrison which, although was first published over 40 years ago, still stand up well today. An excellent performance by Phil Gigante who still manages to make Angelina sound as sexy as she is portrayed in the books. I'll now always associate Phil as being the voice of DiGriz.

Fantastic

I first started reading the stainless steel rat books in the early 80s. When I heard that they had been made into audiobooks I just to try them. If anything they are even better than the books as the narrator adds more atmosphere if anything. I am now buying all of them excellent work!!
