Publisher's Summary

Fethering's favorite sleuths are at it again. Jude and Carole Seddon find themselves in the midst of some horseplay after stumbling upon the body of ex-equestrian Walter Fleet at Long Bamber Stables. The police attribute the stabbing death to the mysterious "Horse Ripper", who's been mutilating mares across West Sussex and who Walter obviously caught in the act.

But considering Walter's reputation out of the saddle, Jude and Carole find that there are plenty of murder suspects, including Walter's put-upon wife and more than a few jealous husbands who wanted Walter put out to pasture.

Frosty Chilean Chardonnay

Too much of the same thing. Why must the Chardonnay always be Chilean?
Why is Carol always frosty.? There ate other wines and words

One of my favorite

This is a wonderful series that gets better with each book. The narrator is excellent. I’m very disappointed in Audible, there are so many books in the series that are unavailable in the US. It’s ridiculous. I’m willing to get paperback versions to continue, but I wish they’d figure out how to have the complete series accessible.

Disappointed

Long tedious & poor tying up all the ends despite rambling on & on.
Solution was obvious hours before ending.
Funny that they are so self-righteous but so willing to let criminals off the hook & not follow up on other criminal charges. These two main characters love to feed the “confessions” or info to whoever they are talking to - no better than bumbling policemen.

Another great book, mediocre narration

I always love Simon Brett’s mysteries. This story is up to par. This narrator, however, was just not as good as Mr Brett himself or Bill Nighy or other excellent performers.
His voice made my throat feel tired and his diction was so choppy and monotone, sometimes I had to rewind to re-listen because my mind had wandered.

Cute story overall

Cute story overall with tedious filler throughout. This was compounded by have a low voiced male narrator that didn’t really help the two main female characters. With a better narrator this could have been a four. I’ve heard this narrator do better in other books.

a very entertaining murder mystery

A great story, fun and quirky characters and good narration. I enjoy Jude and Carole's characters and their relationship. The murder mystery has several suspects to keep you guessing.

Not a great book - but does grow on you and become quite enjoyable

Positives: The narrator does a great job, a real pro; you come to care about the characters which are the books main attraction.

Negative: The author, keeps drawing conclusions and making explanations, that the listener doesn’t need, we already got it.

Still enjoyed

A bit harder to follow in some areas but I still enjoyed it just as well.
