Great Start Then It Slowed Down

I had not read prior published work by Eva Gates so that I don't know if this book is the way she usually writes. There were some aspects of this story that made me wonder why she even used them, for example, the horse on the moor. Why even bring that in if you just let it remain unaddressed in the story? I may be a bit spoiled in my likes and dislikes but I really get annoyed by story elements that appear and are left to take away in my expectations for closure. I will read the first book to see if this is something she frequently does at which point I will be able to see if she is to remain on my favorite list.

I HAVE MISSED THE LIGHT HOUSE LIBRARY CREW

I ENJOYED THIS BOOK. THE CHARACTERS ARE FUN, WITHOUT BEING TOO QUIRKY. OF COURSE, LOUISE JANE AND THEODORE COME CLOSE. I ONLY GAVE THE BOOK A 4 STAR BECAUSE THE INTRODUCTION OF THE HORSE AND LIGHTS JUST SEEMED RANDOM AND WENT NOWHERE. THEY MIGHT HAVE BEEN INTERESTING, BUT WERE NOT DEVELOPED OR EXPLAINED AND DID NOT SEEM TO ADD TO, OR EVEN IMPACT, THE STORYLINE AT ALL.

So many words, so little substance

This was SO boring. I can’t believe I left it on through the end. I did, however wind up with company in the car so it was background noice that was just mildly annoying. The filler was multitudinous. The narrator did not do a good job so you couldn’t tell one voice from another, male from female. I thought I had listened to one of these that was fairly decent but this one makes me leery of trying another. I’ll give it one more gamble but …

Spook in the Stacks

I expected a silly little read, but it was actually quite fun! If you’ve been to the Outer Banks, you will probably enjoy it. A fluffy little mystery/romance took the nerves off of Election Day!

Good cozy

This is a good cozy mystery. The performance of the narrator is very enjoyable. The characters are typical but not overly cliched.
