Standing up against bigotry, and harassment!
There is a more important mission for 13 year-old Abby Douglas to accomplish than winning the spelling bee. Her new Jewish friend is experiencing racial discrimination and harassment, and needs her help. The narrator reads the story with compassion. This is a good story with a sense of morality for children.
