Publisher's Summary
When Moira helps out her sister and brother in a Wiccan ritual on Halloween, the last thing she expects is to be swept away to a mystical wilderness. Sitting within the stones of the ancient circle of Penmaenmawr, Wales, she's convinced it's an illusion. But the dark-haired, handsome man with amnesia that Moira meets during her trance cannot be blinked away like a dream.
Hayko, the mysterious stranger, won't let go. After returning home from her stone circle adventure, she is beckoned back night after night to the outlandish dreamland by an invisible force. But the hardest part isn't having to fight the terrifying creatures of these nightmares - it's realizing she's falling for a guy without a past who isn't real.
What if you really can fall in love with the man of your dreams?

Great story
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes I would recommend cause it was a wonderful story.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Space in Between?
When Moira realized she she was a strong person and didn't need pills to help her out with her ADHD.
What does Karen Krause bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
She does an awesome job of bringing the story to life
Any additional comments?
I read this book when it was first published but it has been a while so I had actually forgotten everything that happened. It was wonderful visiting this awesome world the author created. I was also intrigued to learn there is a lot about Phoenix in religious lore.

Unique romance story
The story is different than anything I have ever read. It is interesting and the characters are well developed. The author did an amazing job creating the in between space/world. It took me a bit longer than usual to be sucked in by the story.
Moira is a great character and Patrick seems like he wants to change and mold her into someone else. He is a horrible listener.
On the other hand, Hayko is the opposite and slowly steals her heart. He likes her the way she is and encourages her to be herself. The problem is that he is not real or is he? Is he dead? Is she the one to help him cross over?
The narrator did a good job. The story is told mostly is Moira's POV. The conclusion wraps things up nicely and ends in a positive note. No Cliffhangers.

Impressive
Narration, Karen Krause
Karen is a really good narrator. Her voice is lovely and enjoyable to listen to.
This book has characters from Wales, England & Armenia, so if you expect to hear those accents, I don't believe you will and the dialogue was a little stilted, BUT, with that said, her storytelling ability and all of the narrative is super.
This story was fabulous. Period.
Is the hero someone you will pine for? No, I don't think so.
Is the heroine a ravishing beauty with a fabulous body who doesn't think she's all that? No, I don't think so.
Can I stop thinking about this story? No, I don't think so.
This is such a smartly written story that honestly will grab you from the beginning and keep you all the way to the end. It's complex, but you won't get lost. All the details and the mystery of the piece are delivered perfectly without feeling like you're being spoon fed. You'll think you have everything figured out and you'll be wrong. Honestly I had no idea where this was going at times, and I was ok with that.
Impressed.

View into various religions and cults
I was provided this audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review via Audiobook Boom.
At first, I couldn't really get into the story, but after a while, it grew on me. It's not just about a young woman's quest to save the man she falls in love with in another world, it is about relationships, too. The story shows effectively, how destructive an unhealthy relationship can be, and how difficult it is, to free oneself of it. Apart from that, we learn something about the belief of the Yazidis, which was totally new to me, and which I found fascinating and interesting. It is not an in-depth study of the belief system, but it mentions the main pillars on which the belief is based.
I liked the ending, and contrary to a review I read, it does NOT leave the reader hanging.
The only beef I have to grind, is that there is a lot of (albeit mild) swearing. True, the protagonists are young people, but I don't know any young people who swear this much in real life, and I certainly wouldn't want to know them.
The narrator does a great job, especially with all those Welsh names (although, not knowing Welsh, I can't judge whether she pronounced them correctly or not).
The voice was well fitted to the age of the protagonists, and it was easy to follow the story, and who was saying what, so kudos here.
On the whole, I enjoyed the story, mainly due to the wealth of ideas, and the combination of real world/Other world, and how they influence each other.

Not your average YA paranormal story
Any additional comments?
Entertaining, creative and enjoyable not your average YA paranormal story.
It took me a while to get into this book. The story builds up a little at a time. Once it gets going you can't stop listening.
I had never heard of The Order of the Peacock. The Yazidi people yes, but I had never thought about their religion. Learning something new in an entertaining and enjoyable way is a win/win scenario.
After a Wiccan ritual which" transports" them to the land outside of time. Moira and her siblings all end up "collective dreaming" the same dream. In this dream they meet Hayko a mystery man who has no memory. Switching between real life and dreams little by little Moira and her siblings unravel the mystery surrounding Hayko and his situation.
Loved the growth of Moira's character throughout the book. Unfortunately many men act like Patrick did. But it made it easier in the end because you didn’t feel sorry for him when the relationship ended.
Karen Krause has a very pleasant voice, easy to listen to. Her voice does fit the age of the characters. Nice even pace. She was able to convey the emotions of characters as well.

Amazing mystical romance set in present day Wales.
Any additional comments?
I listened to the audio version of The Space In Between: Dreamscape by Jen Minkman, which is a wonderful story about believing in yourself and listening to your instincts. It has everything that I look for in a story - the perfect trifecta: part romance, part mystery, and part mystical fantasy. Jen has a natural gift for blending all these elements into a truly engaging story that really draws you. I found myself sitting in my car just listening to "one more chapter" before going into work or into the house after work.
The story centers around 20-something Moira, who is a part-time college art student who works part-time and writes songs on the side with her two charismatic siblings. She still lives at home with her close-knit family who are all very supportive of her and her endeavors, especially since she was recently diagnosed with ADHD. On Halloween, Moira and her two sibilings dream the same dream and Moira meets Hayko, a mysterious guy who's trapped in the dream world and has no memory of who he is or how he got there. As the book progresses Moira and her siblings unravel the mystery of who he is and why he and Moira are connected to each other. I especially loved how Hayko convinced Moira that she needed to believe in her instincts and to stop the ADHD medication because it placed a damper on her creativity. And the ending was pure perfection (after pulling on a few heartstrings beforehand)!
Karen Krause narrated the Audible version of this book and she did an excellent job narrating the story. She provided distinct and consistent voices for all characters throughout. She also had great intonation and pace, conveying urgency in all the right places. Simply put, I highly recommend The Space In Between: Dreamscape!

Way better than I thought it would be
This is SO not my kind of book but I cannot turn down anything set in Wales (my family is mostly Welsh). I was so surprised how much I liked it. The space in between was not a huge stretch of the imagination and kind of made sense. I read a couple of reviews that think this is not a complete book, just a first in a series. Perhaps they are right, but I thought it complete and a great ending. The main character is likeable as is her family. The relationship with her boyfriend is fresh and believable.
I would read more by this author and the narrator did a good job.
I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review.
