Publisher's summary

Survive. Journey along the dark roads of one American female and experience the manifestation of truths she found in the form of folktales, short stories, and prose. Step into a world of allegory where things are not always as they seem. Blood, sex, violence, emotion, healing, truth, and love appear as apocalyptic characters, mythological beings, and raw verse. Never before has the heart of an abuse survivor forced its way into the sun in such a multifaceted way. Fall headlong into the upside down world of the sojourner who found her way to the light.

In an effort at transparency, it is important to classify the content of this book in such a way that the listener knows what they are getting themselves into. This is not a religious book, but there is content about God and spiritual things. This is not an erotica book though there is a tale with what might be called erotica in it. These are stories that reflect a real life in shades of fiction. They convey to the listener the evolution of an abused daughter’s heart who learned how to be a real person and the emotion and hardship therein.

The book leads to hope, so as you meander into the darkness, keep that mind...that it leads to the light.

It will be hard for some listeners to comprehend, and some may not be able to finish listening to it. This book will be understood by the people who have walked that road - that unprotected path in the valley of the shadows. Many people die there, lost and alone. Some, a small few, get to a place where they are free. They can sleep most nights, but not all. They still remember. They are haunted, but not imprisoned by the past. Those people will finish this book and understand it. To the rest, I hope you find a tale, romance, or poem that moves you.

To everyone, I encourage you to keep going. I encourage you to never give up. I encourage you to be the hero in your story. Climb the mountain. Eat the food. Fall in love. Change the world.

Sojourner's Folklore

This is not my kind of book so I was not able to enjoy it. Narrator Holly Holt did a great job with the narration. I received this free copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
