Publisher's summary

Tobias Gamble knew from a young age precisely the kind of woman he was going to make his. She was not going to be like his mother. She was going to be like the mother he claimed.

In other words, she was going to be just right.

And when Toby returns to his hometown of Matlock, Kentucky, and claps eyes on Adeline Forrester, he knows she’s the one.

The problem is, his brother Johnny has a new girlfriend. And Addie is her sister. Last, Toby would do nothing to hurt Johnny’s chance at happiness.

Toby hangs around town to get to know the woman Johnny fell in love with. He also hangs around to get to know Addie.

But he’s fallen hard, and he knows the best thing for him - and Addie - is for him to leave.

Addie Forrester is thrilled her sister Eliza found a good, solid man. Johnny Gamble is the salt of the earth. The best guy in the world.

The best except for his brother, Toby.

Toby doesn’t know it, but Addie’s fallen hard too. He’s perfect, except for the fact that he’s hands off and it’s torture, being friends with Toby when she wants so much more.

Addie also has a lot on her mind. She’s got bills to pay, her young son needs food, Christmas is coming, and her job at the grocery store just isn’t cutting it.

Toby is steering clear of Addie. Addie is steering clear of Toby. But everyone around them knows this is the slow burn.

Because just like Eliza and Johnny, Addie and Toby were made for each other.

Very satisfying conclusion to Moonlight and Motor oil

I listened to Hook Up which is the story of Izzie and Johnny so I am anxious to listen to Toby and Addy’s story. Love that we have Lance and Stella doing this book because they are perfect for the gruff and feisty couple. They really personified the characters and brought them to life. This is a very enjoyable book with great characters and storyline that really tugs at my heart.

Great story!!

I absolutely loved the story, the characters all of the extended family and even the drama!
This is a book that I will be recommending to all my friends.

I wasn’t completely in love with the narrators but it wasn’t terrible.

SLOW BURNS ARE THE BEST

I’ll start first with the narrators. This is the first time I have listened to anything narrated by Lance Greenfield and Stella Bloom and I am looking for more. I loved their voices for Toby and Addie and the other characters. There was something about the way they were able to bring the characters to life and make them humorous and lovable that pulled me in even more.

Addie’s life is like a lot of people that live in the “real” world. She’s a single parent. She had a rough relationship and she is trying to make it for her child. She’s tough and barely makes what is needed but somehow she makes it work and she is happy. Her dog is happy and her child is happy. Addie is lucky to have a family like she does. Her sister, brother in law and his brother are there for support but it’s more to it. This family is more than just that to her. They are the backbone that she knows she will have one day and she is fighting to get it.

Toby is the man. I mean he is a no nonsense type of person and he doesn’t complain or apologize for anything that he has and what he has done. His life wasn’t the best and he had troubles that he fought but he never gave up. His life is good and although he knows he shouldn’t cross a line, he is willing to jump over it for the end result.

Kristen Ashley always gives us real life situations. She made us understand Addie’s struggles, her willingness to let go and allow people who love her to help. She lets her guard down slowly but once she does she is in for the time of her life!

Someone was cutting onions near me

I read this book when it first came out and liked it. I read pretty much anything Kristen Ashley puts out. The story is heartwarming and as with any good book, has places that hit you right in the feels. It does have plenty of sex scenes so if you have a problem with that, move along.

All the feels!

Loved the story of Toby and Addie. I laughed and cried as these two navigated their relationship. As always Ms Ashley continues he story of the characters from the previous story and brings in a few familiar characters and places from others.
Loved this one which was narrated beautifully.

I love these characters!

As with all of KA’s books, her characters draw you into the story. There were so many touching scenes that I kept Kleenex handy. I like that KA’s books aren’t filled with angst and misunderstandings, like so many other romances. Her characters actually communicate like adults; it’s refreshing.

The intimate relationship between Addi and Tobi, has the same flavor as the men in the Rock Chicks series.(Meaning a total Alpha Male with Cave Man tendencies.) The sex scenes are explicit but not overly frequent.

This is definitely a chick flick kind of novel and definitely worth the credit!

Slow Burn ... what a way to go

This book is LOVE. I don't know how this author does it. With every storyline she puts together I fall in love. Tobias & Addie were fated from their very first unintroduced meeting.
