Publisher's summary

"The Sky Is Falling" is a science fiction classic: Computer engineer Dave Hansen is transported from Earth to a world reminiscent of Ancient Egypt, where the rules of science and physics are replaced by the rules of magic. Hanson was summoned to help save the world's sky from collapsing. The sky is a literal dome that arches above the world, with the sun and stars not massive celestial bodies trillions of miles away, but smaller lights that move about within the dome of the sky.

Hansen must find a way to reconcile his scientific knowledge with the magic of his new world and thus prevent the sky from falling, and then discover a method to return to Earth.

fantasy

It is pure fantasy, which is not my thing. I surprisingly have read very little LDR, but I always thought of him as a hard science fiction writer. I am almost at the end of this, and hoping there is going to be some point to it. But so far is it just a story about a magical world, which when it was written, must have seemed uniquely creative. Now it seems rather passe, and I am not really a fantasy guy at all, with the exception of JK Rowling's seven books. If you are, then maybe you will love it. It has done absolutely nothing for me.
