The route was a sentiment. Those who found themselves traveling along it lost all hope. There was no returning from the path. The slavers known as Silkers prided themselves on this. To them, people were nothing more than cattle—to be driven, and their uses to be consumed. And they hunted. Relentlessly.

While Cal is chasing the Silkers, Cassandra is running from them. A few rounds in her pistol and her wits were all she had to escape the slavers chasing her. She struggled against their tenet. No one skirts the Silk Road.

And once more, she finds herself in Cal’s shadow.

Can the two overcome their history to survive?
