Love Anne McCafferty

Please, more of this series. Have been enjoying hearing her books after reading them several times. The reading pace is just right and the performer brings the stories to life.

Editing

I’m always disappointed when the books are edited. There always seems to be some irritating elimination of the details of a favorite character or part of the story. In this case, there are portions that give additional details about the main character that are immediately noticeable. Nevertheless, I understand the desire for time constraints and anyone who hasn’t read the hard copy will not miss the various absences.

abridged

if you are a fan of the book, you might be a little disappointed with this; it cuts out large chunks of the book. it retains enough to provide a complete story, but many of the more interesting details have been cut for time.

Unabridged v abridged

As always with good writing. Shorter is not better! It is always a good read and the journey into the written world. But having read the full version this is disappointing

Love this book and the series, just wish they had "The Ship That Sang." Wonderful read.

Prefer unabridged but not too bad

The abridged version leaves out much of the soul searching and parentheses that Ms Lackey indulges in, which is good. But this version, as other readers have said, goes a little - just a little - too far. The scene where Hypatia chooses a 'brawn' is cut drastically and looses it's coherance. The bits with the bear are cut too much. Lars is cut too much. Etc. The book is cut to a little more that two hours. A three hour version would be much better.

Wonderfully heart lifting

I read the print version decades ago and hearing it now I felt all those wonderful emotions again.

Missing

While I absolutely love the print version of this book, the recording skips quite a lot, some of it essential to the plot. If it had been complete this would be five stars.
