Sir Arthur C. Clarke (1917-2008) is regarded as one of the most-influential science fiction writers of all time. He was named a Grand Master by the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America, and was inducted into the Science Fiction and Fantasy Hall of Fame.

Arthur C Clarke’s The Shining Ones is a short story from the early 1960’s. An undersea engineer is called back due to a problem with a job he recently finished. As he checks out the issue, he encounters underwater creatures out of legend that appear to possess a rudimentary intelligence attempting to figure out the purpose of his installation.

The narration is excellent with solid character distinction (with a heavy foreign accent). Pacing is smooth.
