Publisher's summary

DI Cass Jones is still dealing with the fallout of uncovering a major conspiracy within his own police station when a terrorist attack rocks London and he finds himself called on to help with the investigation. At the same time he has his own investigation to worry about: young people are dying, apparently committing suicide - and they're all linked by the phrase ‘Chaos in the Darkness’, scrawled or sent as their last message to the world. Then he's given a note from his dead brother Christian, written before his murder: the three words - They took Luke - opens up a whole new can of worms, because Cass knows immediately who They are: Mr Bright and the shadowy Network. His dead brother has set him a task from beyond the grave - to find the baby, his nephew, stolen at birth. And as Cass tries to divide his time between all three investigations, it's not long before he discovers links, where there should not be. The mysterious Mr Bright is once again pulling his strings, and there's nothing DI Cass Jones hates more...

Sarah Pinborough was born in Buckinghamshire, and now lives just a few miles away, after a childhood spent travelling all over the world (her father, now retired, was a diplomat). When she was eight she packed her trunk and left the Middle East for a ten-year stretch in boarding school. The memories provide her with much material for her horror and supernatural thrillers...

No spoilers

This book seems incomplete; more of an interlude between the first book (which was excellent) and the next. I was actually surprised when it ended. Story itself was excellent but didn’t have any sort of conclusion or wrap-up. Hopefully the third will feel like a whole story.

Weirdly twisted

It kept me interested throughout; however, it's beginning to be a little anticlimactic. yet, I still want to finish the story.

Not as easy to listen to as the first.

I enjoyed the concept of this series, but this follow up was a bit of a drag for me. I did want to know what happened, but there was no resolution here. I will probably get the third one, because I do want to know how it ends. I just felt myself forcing the listen more than I like.

Disappointed

I bought these books because of the great work the author did in Behind Her Eyes however this had so much profanity and so many disturbing aspects that I was really disappointed and didn't enjoy it at all.
