Publisher's summary

War has come to Carthya. It knocks at every door and window in the land. And when Jaron learns that King Vargan of Avenia has kidnapped Imogen in a plot to bring Carthya to its knees, Jaron knows it is up to him to embark on a daring rescue mission. But everything that can go wrong does.

His friends are flung far and wide across Carthya and its neighboring lands. In a last-ditch effort to stave off what looks to be a devastating loss for the kingdom, Jaron undertakes what may be his last journey to save everything and everyone he loves. But even with his lightning-quick wit, Jaron cannot forestall the terrible danger that descends on him and his country. Along the way, will he lose what matters most? And in the end, who will sit on Carthya's throne?

A delightful end to a delightful story

It was a nice and neat ending to a great story of a boy who would be king.

A great end

A great ending to the original Ascendance Trilogy (at least before the publication of Captive Kingdom) that brings us the true genius, and pitfalls, of Jaron Eckbert!

Amazing book and incredible storytelling!!

I’ve always loved this book series, and have reread/ listened to it more times than i can count. It’s just as incredible each time. I’m truly amazed by the author’s ability to craft the narrative, and the detailed, well thought out plot carefully laid out throughout the story. I would recommend this book to any reader, and hope that they enjoy it as much as I did. Especially those who enjoy sarcasm as much as I do :)

I also loved the performance. I think the narrator did justice to the series.

Amazing Conclusion to an Amazing Series

I loved every single book in the series. They kept me guessing. Made me laugh. Made me cry. Charlie Mcwade was an excellent narrator and really brought Jaron to life for me.

Captivating Trilogy.

I have listened to this 3 times now. I love how Charlie Mcwade presented each character. There is plenty of suspense, mystery & action.
