Publisher's summary

The second part of the Witch-Hunter series.

The world has been thrown into darkness by the Shadow Witch's revolution. The witch-hunters are scattered, but still strong. The race is now on to gather allies and win the war. New enemies will arise; loyalties will be pushed to the limit. And an important question will be answered: Can a witch-hunter who practices magic ever be trusted, or will he be persecuted?

It is said "love conquers all", but this twisted love must stay secret, locked away with the past.

The Shadow Reigns

I loved the first book and the second does not disappoint. I liked the fact that you can't tell who the good guys are unlike book one.

Book 2 Is even better than Book 1!

The Shadow Reigns pulled me in even quicker than The Shadow Rises. Maybe it was because I already felt like I knew the characters but this book few by! The narrator does an excellent job distinguishing the characters and making you feel invested in the story. I highly recommend this series and I can’t wait to read the next installment in the series!

Exciting Sequel In An Excellent Series

I received this audiobook in exchange for an honest review from the author.

I absolutely loved the first book in this series, THE SHADOW RISES, So I was excited to see what would happen in the sequel and I was not disappointed. I was impressed with how the main characters continued to grow and change. Meanwhile, new characters were introduced that I soon fell in love with.
The plot, as with the first one, was perfectly paced, quick and full of twists and turns. I was on the edge of my seat the entire book and felt like I was holding my breath until the very last chapter. I'll be eagerly waiting to read the next book in this series to find out what happens next.
As with the first book, Jonathan Ip did a great job with narration. His voice can be quite at times, but it seems appropriate for the character.

An enjoyable read

My fourth read/listen from author K.S. Marsden was well-written and entertaining. Narrator Jonathon Ip’s British accent made for enjoyable listening. I'll be reading more by her in the future. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018)

Regrouping, strategising, some banter and utter turmoil

Love that the same narrator tells the second book. Lovely portray of the accents, can’t judge the accuracy one bit, can only tell that it’s nice hearing a British voice telling a story located in Britain.
All the different voices and accents make this story a joy to listen to. It’s a breeze to follow the dialogues.

This book was a bit weird at the beginning for me. For a while it felt like it would be an entire book about re-organizing the society after the devastating events from book 1. Of course, picking up where book 1 ends means it needed to have a start of some regrouping and strategising unless the story would’ve jumped in time but I prefer this over a jump. But after that much needed regrouping, that I needed to adjust to shall we say, the story continues. The new formed group was hilarious at times, the banter adding lots of humor and sometimes the group brought some depth to the story as well. Which was a nice addition because, as I said, for me, after the action in the end of book 1, the first part of this book felt kinda plain. The group was given a very important but somewhat boring task and I’ll admit that I didn’t like the book as much as the first one due to the regrouping and strategising. Those things just aren’t my favorite so I got scared it would be lots of that. Also, the first one wasn’t as dark as this one, there was still a search and some mystery going on and a bit of romance in the background so it takes some adjusting to the darkness. This one is more preparing for the fight and the fight itself. The doomed vibe of it all is captures very well. Storywise, I think the author did a great job of continuing the story. I just loved the few lighter bits in book 1, they made a nice addition to an otherwise evenly dark storyline, so I guess that’s why this one needed to grow on me. Apparently I love me some light parts in my dark stories lol.
But anyway, it’s captivating for sure after some chapters where the characters needed to scrape themselves together. It is more devastating than book 1. There is definitely a war going on and it’s not a pretty one. I do wonder how the story will develop from here on out. The ending leaves you wondering just how it can possibly end well. So it might have started out a bit less for me personally but I did love this book as well and can’t wait for the sequel!

good

Wondetful banter and inner monologue. The first book was action packed, weaving a world delightful and dark, this one picked up right where it left off. Great premise and wonderful execution. Beautiful prose painting the images of the story within your mind. Well fleshed out characters you can relate to with realistic organic interactions and motivations that really pull you in. Hunter took an emotional and physical beating in this book that really made him reassess things with the little amount of information he has available. The things he faces are so well written it made me wish I could reach into the story and give him a pat on the shoulder. Enjoyable series I cant wait for the next book.
The narrator and recording quality was ok. Ok vocal range and accent range.

Nice continuation.

I really enjoyed the first book and this one picks right up where the last one left off. I do have to say I enjoyed the first book best, this one takes a dark turn which I usually enjoy but wasn’t expecting in this case. I don’t want to ruin anything for those who haven’t listened yet but I was not always amused with the direction specifically in regards to certain characters. I will of course finish out the series as I must know what happens next. I can take my lumps but was not expecting it is all. Well played. Well played. Which hunters

Hunter and his friends continue to fight the Shadow Witch. There was a lot of time spent at the manor, towards the end there was much more action, and many tragedies left me sad. I really enjoy this series and ready for the next book.
