Publisher's Summary

From the New York Times best-selling author of the Gabriel trilogy comes the hotly anticipated follow-up to The Raven, a sensual novel set in Florence featuring the dangerously intoxicating coupling of Raven and William....

Raven Wood's vampyre prince has returned, pledging his love and promising justice for every wrong done to her. In the wake of their reunion, Raven is faced with a terrible decision - allow the prince to wreak vengeance against the demons of her past or persuade him to stay his hand. But there is far more at stake than Raven's heart....

A shadow has fallen over the city of Florence. Ispettor Batelli will not rest until he uncovers Raven's connection to the theft of the priceless art from the Uffizi Gallery. And while the prince hunts a traitor who sabotages him at every turn, he finds himself the target of the vampyres' mortal enemy.

As he wages a war on two fronts, he will need to keep his love for Raven secret or risk exposing his greatest weakness....

Another swoon-worthy listen

The Shadow is a passionate and complex story, filled with romance, art, history and suspense. William and Raven are reunited again and the Prince will stop at nothing to protect her all while battling forces that are trying to sabotage him and his rule over Florence. I absolutely loved this 2nd installment of The Florentine Series even though it was a little slow in the middle. We finally get to learn how William came to be and the tragedy of how he lost his first love. The last part of the book was filled with lots of heart pounding action and of course it ends in a bit of a cliffhanger. I can’t wait for the next book.

Magnificent !!

What made the experience of listening to The Shadow the most enjoyable?

This audiobook is great . Usually when I purchase a new book , I listen and read at the same time. After that I just listen. The history and excellent sub plots are six stars. I would read too fast and would pause to allow audio book to caugh up. Prince not as unreasonable as in RAVEN, he is almost kind. I need to go back to Florence.

Any additional comments?

A must read. Great follow up to Raven.

Awesome read!!!!!!

I loved this book couldn't put it down. When William shows Raven her present she is shocked of who she sees locked in a cage. Raven calls her sister to see what she would want to happened to their step father, but Cara doesn't want to talk about it. William knows that their is a traitor in his company but he still doesn't know who. When William goes to his office with his assistent he sees his office in disarray and finds out that the traitor has taken is army and his throne. When Cara and her boyfriend are down stairs Raven goes to open the door for them, but someone stops her from closing the door. While the first traitor has Raven and her sister the other traiter has William and has order his to execute him.

Great continuation of story...

Makes me very sad that John Michael Morgan passed away, loved his voice and he always put me right into the story. Always a great narrator. I will miss his soulful voice. Great story from Sylvain, already started the last installment of this trilogy, "The Roman". Rob Dean does a great job narrating the last book!

The Shadow, a great novel by Sylvain Reynard!

Would you consider the audio edition of The Shadow to be better than the print version?

I love both the print and the audible version, I often listen to the audiobook while following along in the print book, usually I am content with just the book, but this series, I wanted to hear it as well, the performance by John Michael Morgan is always so good!

What other book might you compare The Shadow to and why?

I do not compare books, I take them individually for their own merit!I think Sylvain Reynard's books are incomparable-they are all epic.

Which character – as performed by John Michael Morgan – was your favorite?

In this book it is The Prince, he is so strong, and no matter what is thrown at him he is able to persevere. He also shows his feelings for Raven, which is unheard of in this series-a vampyre to have feelings for "his pet".

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

An epic tale of true love between a human and a vampyre!

Any additional comments?

At the end of this book I could not wait for the next book to come out, and now I am going to listen to The Roman- I can't wait and look forward to it! Unfortunately John Michael Morgan has passed away so we will see what happens!

Love this series.

I usually don't read vampire novels but since it was by Sylvain Reynard and I adored the Gabriel series I had to read it. His writing is so descriptive! Can't wait for the "Roman".

Outstanding

Would you consider the audio edition of The Shadow to be better than the print version?

Both amazing.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Shadow?

The Prince sending Raven away.

Have you listened to any of John Michael Morgan’s other performances? How does this one compare?

All beautiful done.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Made me fall in love with Sylvain's writing even more.

Any additional comments?

Waited what seemed like forever for this book but it was so worth it. Another beautifully written story with many twists and turns. The Prince/William and Raven's relationship is everything to both of them, above everything else and all that what to come between them. Plot includes intrigue, murder, action, romance, tenderness and traitorism are all here. Now to wait for the next book.
