Publisher's Summary

What did Jesus teach? Distilled from years of study and lecture, affirmed by nearly a million listeners over the last 50 years, Emmet Fox's answer in The Sermon on the Mount is simple. The Bible is a "textbook of metaphysics" and the teachings of Jesus express - without dogma - a practical approach for the development of the soul and for the shaping of our lives into what we really wish them to be. For Fox, Jesus was "no sentimental dreamer, no mere dealer in empty platitudes, but the unflinching realist that only a great mystic can be".

In his most popular work, Emmet Fox shows how to:

  • Understand the true nature of divine wisdom.
  • Tap into the power of prayer.
  • Develop a completely integrated and fully expressed personality.
  • Transform negative attitudes into life-affirming beliefs.
  • Claim our divine right to the full abundance of life.

Wonderful book, fantastic narration

Emmet Fox's words are as valid today as they were when they were written. I highly recommend this book to all Christians and anyone seeking direction and meaning in their life.

Terrible narration - skip!

Another fast talking narrator... pleasant voice but talks too fast. I'm bewildered that Audible charges the same price or credit for (all) the books that are not professionally narrated as they do with the books that are. I am again very disappointed and could not finish first chapter. Voice over work is a skill/talent not a duty.

compelling heretic. well done as a false doctrine

very well done. but just like Dan Brown novels, the content is all simply incorrect. if you wish to embrace Spiritualism or the New Thought movement, this text is excellent. if you want to follow Jesus as God and Christ, this book would be a heretical work not to be considered as truth.
I have to give it high marks within its genre. however, I disagree with the content much as I would Buddism or Islam.
most concerning is simply that it is not what it sounds like. this is far from a mainstream look at the teachings of Jesus.

A classic to be listened to over and over

I love the way Emmett Fox deciphers the true meaning of the Bible and Jesus Christ’s message to us. The narrator is difficult to pay attention to because his voice has virtually no inflection and he drones on. I really would’ve preferred a different narrator but all in all I will still listen to this book regularly to help me in my journey to be more like Christ and live the life that God meant humans to live here on earth. Love, kindness, and forgiveness for we are all one, God’s child.

New age propaganda

This is new age propaganda that ignores entire phrases of Christ from the Sermon on the Mount that done fit the writer’s agenda.

It is not worth your time, really.

Enlightening .

I found this book very liberating in a way I never have with any organised religion. I found the narration clear and calming, others may find it rather monosyllabic , that to me was part of the appeal. I feel far more educated in who God is, and what he wants from us.

An old classic needing a punchy, young voice.

I didn't like the narrator. He spoiled this classic. His voice was way too droll.
