Publisher's Summary

On the face of it, Rebecca Bloomwood has it all. Confident, single, and happily living in Fulham, she's a financial journalist who spends her days writing articles advising other people on the importance of budgeting and prudent investment.

Her private life is a different story though: Rebecca manages her own finances in a way that would make most of her readers' hair curl. For Rebecca is a woman on a mission - she just can't stop spending.

Don't expect this to be as charming as the movie

Unlike a lot of reviewers, I actually prefer the movie over the book in many ways. Rebecca's character is a lot more likeable in the movie thanks to Isla Fisher performance.

It's still a decent chick lit book but dont expect it to be as charming as the movie. Rebecca didnt really learn a whole lot by the end of the book.

Much much better than the movie.

I couldn't help clapping at the end of it. Great. It was quite enjoyable and surprising.

Great book

Nice book with a lot of funny and awkward moments. I really enjoyed it and has a nice ending. I totally recommend this society book.

Predictable

This was a good read but very predictable. Although I do enjoy a love story so I will carry on reading the series.

Any redeeming feature?

This hopeless... lying worse than Walter Mitty....amoral.....embarrassing.... cringemaking central character... Becky Bloomwood seems to be without a redeeming feature. Hype lead me to read it.... but I struggled to the end...after four or more attempts. Her resolutions at the end of the book to put her life in order didn't alter my first and ongoing negative feelings about her.
A hint of a moral compass? Leopards don't change their spots. She might go into Politics? A life shared with Luke Brandon? There goes the 'Walter Mitty' aspect of her character again. And those 'Malone' sun glasses....really are too good to miss aren't they. I'm still hoping she gets a kick up the rear. Just maybe that improbable character Luke Brandon can provide it. What a waste of time and money this book is.
