Publisher's Summary

On the face of it, Rebecca Bloomwood has it all. Confident, single, and happily living in Fulham, she's a financial journalist who spends her days writing articles advising other people on the importance of budgeting and prudent investment.

Her private life is a different story though: Rebecca manages her own finances in a way that would make most of her readers' hair curl. For Rebecca is a woman on a mission - she just can't stop spending.

Much much better than the movie.

I couldn't help clapping at the end of it. Great. It was quite enjoyable and surprising.

Boring. Reparative. Shallow.

Getting boring real fast.
All the heroine is obsessed with , and think about or do is shopping. Nothing more.
Assumed shopping would be a part of the book but not all of it.
If you are looking for a narrative - this is not the book for you.
Nothing really happens except from a few chapters at the end of the book.
Also the heroine gets real annoying real fast.
Had a very hard time finishing this book.
Wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

Don't expect this to be as charming as the movie

Unlike a lot of reviewers, I actually prefer the movie over the book in many ways. Rebecca's character is a lot more likeable in the movie thanks to Isla Fisher performance.

It's still a decent chick lit book but dont expect it to be as charming as the movie. Rebecca didnt really learn a whole lot by the end of the book.

Americanisms

annoying to listen to a story set in England where the lead is English yet they felt the need to change certain words and phrases to Americanisms. For example Luke hands the porter a bill. An English person would say a note. Checked the book and the original says "note". These sorts of changes are very frustrating and erode the English language.

Chapter 8 and losing the will to live

I don’t think I can get to the end of this book. I usually like Sophie kinsella but this is horrendous. Main character is just a horrible person and an idiot on top of that.
It’s the first time I’ve left a review before the books finished, but life is too short to keep listening to this

Shallow, Entitled Main Character

I downloaded this after enjoying another novel by Soohie Kinsella but couldn’t get through this. The central character Becky is so unlikable, she is immature, self centred, shallow and entitled with no redeeming qualities. I gave up halfway through unable to listen to any more of the ‘I deserve the world just for existing’ monologue, it might have been ok as a short story but not a whole book and apparently a whole series. Not for me.

excellent!

Loved this book. So lighthearted and funny. Also some really cringy moments that made me wince and hold my breath! Such a shame the next book available in the Shopaholic series is only the abridged version. Audible - please start selling the unabridged version!

Just great a must read

I have jus finished listening to this wonderful book and I really did not want it to end.
It was very funny and both captivating and thrilling all at the same time.
I found my self talking out loud to the main character. I definitely recommend this book, it is a must read, especially if you love to shop and treat yourself all of which I love to do and I also share Rebecca passion for beautiful things.
Thank you Sophie kinsella for a great book, I am a huge fan
