Publisher's summary

The movie star and the dog groomer are one kiss away from the perfect love story. That’s the hiccup in a warm and witty romance by the bestselling author of Roommaid.

The meet-cute award goes to dog groomer Juliet Nolan. It’s one of Hollywood’s biggest nights when she volunteers as a seat filler and winds up next to movie heartthrob Noah freaking Douglas. Tongue-tied and toes curling in her pink Converse, she pretends that she doesn’t have a clue who he is. It’s the only way to keep from swooning.

She’s pretty and unpretentious, loves his dog, and is not a worshipping fan. No way Noah’s giving up on her, even if his affectionate pursuit comes with a bump: Juliet has a pathological fear of kissing and the disappointments that follow. What odds does romance have without that momentous, stupendous, once-in-a-lifetime first smooch? Patient, empathetic, and carrying personal burdens of his own, Noah suggests a remedy: they rehearse.

The lessons begin. The guards come down. But there’s another hitch they weren’t betting on. As for that cue-the-orchestra-and-roll-credits happy ending? It might take more than practice to make it perfect.

Critic reviews

“Wilson (Roommaid) balances the quirky with the heartfelt in this adorable rom-com.” (Publishers Weekly)

“Wilson’s follow-up to Roommaid is a fun romp with only-in-the-movies-level swoons and genuine laugh-out-loud moments. With a fairly PG rating, this one may also work for teen romance readers.” (Library Journal)

“An emotionally satisfying romance novel by an author with a genuine flair for combining originality with a particularly effective style of narrative storytelling…extraordinary and unreservedly recommended....” (Midwest Book Review)

Lighthearted!

I love this silly lighthearted love story! The steamy doesn’t get to be too much. The characters could be real; not in my world but it’s not impossible to consider. Maybe there’s a part two in the future?

My Musings

Another light hearted romantic comedy with endearing characters and a great plot. This one has a lot of emotion, more than is found in this sub genre. Great narrator. Happy reading and listening!

Snarky Cinderella with Avery good love story

I love the humor and the snarky smart women in Sariah Wilson’s books. This one doesn’t disappoint. This combined with the unusual phobia that Juliet had to overcome before a relationship could be achieved made this a real page turner that I couldn’t put down. I read first then listened to this Audible version. It did not disappoint and I would highly recommend.

Predictable but So Good

I loved this book. It was a nice, easy listen. A little predictable and the main female character was not quite believable in her naïveté but in the end, I didn’t mind that because it was just a great feel-good story.

Delightful!

The Seat Filler was my first read of Sariah Wilson’s work, and I’m confident I’ve found a refreshing voice in the world of contemporary romance. With relatable characters and a creative premise, Wilson’s story about a famous actor and dog groomer doesn’t fall into the typical trap of movie star romances or opposites attract. Marcin’s narration was excellent. I highly recommend The Sear Filler!
