Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Story
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

In a corporate-dominated spacefaring future, planetary missions must be approved and supplied by the Company. Exploratory teams are accompanied by Company-supplied security androids, for their own safety. But in a society where contracts are awarded to the lowest bidder, safety isn’t a primary concern. On a distant planet, a team of scientists are conducting surface tests, shadowed by their Company-supplied ‘droid—a self-aware SecUnit that has hacked its own governor module, and refers to itself (though never out loud) as “Murderbot.”

On an entirely normal, beautiful fall day in Chester's Mill, Maine, the town is inexplicably and suddenly sealed off from the rest of the world by an invisible force field. Planes crash into it and fall from the sky in flaming wreckage, a gardener's hand is severed as "the dome" comes down on it, people running errands in the neighboring town are divided from their families, and cars explode on impact. No one can fathom what this barrier is, where it came from, and when - or if - it will go away.

Too annoying
Not at all realistic. I couldn't get past the second episode. There is no way people would act that unprofessional and reckless. It made the story unbelievable, which is a bummer because I love the genre

This changes things.
Audible originals used to let me down with the poor quality of sound effects in voice acting but this changes the game. The subscription actually feels more valuable if audible can produce great quality work such as this. The story was great the voice acting was even better. It is a little creepy that as I am writing this review one of the chapters played on its own. End dispatch.

Emotional dialog masquerading as Sic-Fi
There are a few elements of a sci-fi story in this series, but it is more so the two pioneering astronauts monologuing their inner thoughts to each other while they venture Enceladus. One is a cliche paternal figure with years of experience who is a by the book commander. The other is a bubbling marine biologist who may have had some substance if the character wasn't voiced so incredibly cringey and annoying. By any standard of professionalism, this character is completely ill-suited to have been selected for a mission like this. I am one of those people who unfortunately hold out hope until the last sentence of a book hoping that it can redeem itself. That pattern continued with 'The Sea In The Sky.' Two stars because I've read/listened to worse, but the shit voice acting for the main characters ruined it for me. And "Bee's" character was just so unfitting.

Outstanding
Story is fantastic so riveting, cast is wisely chosen and beautiful directed. You’re never strayed from what’s happening with every episode. Clear story telling with sound affects that paint a picture. The tape will make you laugh it will make you cry while making you grip tighter and tighter as tension is heated. As go deeper thinking you see what happens next a twist turns. I really hope they make a next season of episodes find out what happens to Bee next. I highly recommend and prepare for a dive of your life ❤️

OMG, what a disaster
The "story" is basically two astronauts talking about their emotions. The tough-guy hot-shot cries at the drop of a hat. Possibly one of the worst examples of writing I have ever encountered. Instead of using action to drive the plot, it is all about feelings. It's supposed to be sci-fi, but probably three-quarters of it is the characters talking about their childhood, or whining about something from back on Earth.
This was excruciating, and the payoff was not remotely worth it.

Seemed like the voice actors wanted to have a "Mark Watney feel" but it came off like two gushing teenagers on an adventure in tone... Listeners should give it a try with forewarning, so I'm warning you.

Amazing story and interpretation ✨
I loved this podcast with all my heart ❤️ I enjoyed so much the main characters and narrators and development of the story.
I cried, I laughed, I smiled and I enjoyed each and every episode. Hoping for a second season ✨ I can imagine something like Journey to the center of the earth upside-down type of scenario.
I enter the audiobook world through being an avid podcast listener so the only thing I would recommend is for Audible to modify the form of listening to podcasts in this platform because it is not the same as listening to an audiobook and it is a little tedious to go out of each episode to find the other one instead of autoreproducing.

Drawn-out nonsense
I wouldn't send this crew out to the shops for a pint of milk nevermind a mission to the far reaches of space. Too much histrionics not enough sci-fi. Even the 'human' side that was supposedly meant to make you empathise with the characters was so annoying at times; at others it was just so boring.

Had Potential but ruined
The outline of the story for this could have been so much more but was ruined.
Are we seriously to believe that billions was spent to send 2 people to a moon around Saturn on a 6 year round trip with one of the most annoying people ever.
I wouldn't have lasted 6 days with the main female character without throttling her. She's unprofessional, disobeys orders, hides the fact that she has panic attacks, jokes around most of the time when she should be being serious. Her "Rapping" with Simon was just ridiculous. Her boss is just spineless giving in to letting her go down by herself to somewhere unexplored with no radio contact. That is just down right stupid. I didn't end up finishing all the episodes.;

I thought the story was worth a listen. few decent parts. unfortunately I found the voice acting very irritating, over the top at times. the two main characters were trusted on a top mission to Saturn's moon, tho I wouldn't even trust them to walk my dog.

Captured My Imagination
If you like SciFi, you will love this!!.. while listening to this audible you can picture the scene; and the story is told brilliantly. You can close your eyes and imagine you are there with them. All of the narrators done a great job in bringing out the characters. I was disappointed when it ended as I wanted more! I would love to see a follow up to this and think it would be brilliant as a film. Definitely worth the 5 Stars!!!

I'm a die hard fan and follower of sci-fi and fictional books in general. The performance and story of this series absolutely blew me away. Thank you for taking me on this thrilling journey. I really hope there's a next season.

Not intersting
Half an episode in, really boring, the actors are trying to be funny.
I’m not sure if it’s going to get better !!

An emotional rocket ship to the moon
I have to admit, i didn't know what to expect, least of all to be on the verge of tears.
Without going in to spoiler territory, this is something you will want to listen to if you enjoy scifi, with or without the human element.
I thoroughly reccomend this, and am honestly surprised it's free, so strap in and download; we are diving in.

Awful characters
The female character is so annoying and unbelievably childish for a pioneering astronaut. The first episode made me cringe so hard I don't think I can listen to anymore.

Weird
Nothing happens for the first seven episodes, followed by a flutter of activity, then not much after that. It reminds me a bit of 'We who are about to...' by Joanna Russ. Bizarre and a bit depressing overall.

Weak story, not very gripping.
Listened to this after really enjoying "Amok".
Very disappointed with the story and performance.
Very weak characters plodding through a poor storyline.

I deserve (a) credit for listening
What was I listening? An unbalanced hodgepodge of soapseries and bad scifi.
I have this condition where I can't walk out on a story once it takes of. I had to persist till the end.
Yes, it was free for me as a member, but I wonder if AUDIBLE thinks that this fact is good enough not to take me serious.

Amazing story
Amazing story of space adventure intertwined with human psychology. Really pleasant to listen and the voice acting is great!

Loved It!
Was really captured by the story and the narration/production which was a bit like a radio play. Will need to look out for more like this as I really enjoyed all the sound effects, music etc which gave it a lot of atmosphere. The story itself was wonderful and thought provoking and I was kinda sad when it ended. So I started listening to it all over again. Yep, I guess I loved it!!

How Cool!
I am an avid fan of Sci-fi but it is a varying genre with greats and not so great. This series I am pleased to say is awesome and such a fun listen. It had quirky humour and believable characters. Really enjoyed and the dramatization was fun.

A personal favourite
Words cannot describe how much I enjoyed this entire story. Extremely well acted and an all out incredible space exploration story. I was sucked straight in and thoroughly enjoyed my experience.
If your a lover of realistic sci fi or have a passion for the idea of space exploration and the potential for our future reaching our neighbouring planets this is perfect for you.
I have been struggling to find anything similar to this great work that could draw me in the same way, it’s a simple concept yet perfectly executed. I hope for further great tales from Jason in the near future
