Publisher's Summary

If you want to discover the real power of effective communication and how to improve your skills, then keep reading!

Possibly the most important skill you could ever learn is how to communicate effectively with other people; having the right type of effective communication skill will help you in all areas of your life; that could be in your work, with your partner or spouse, with your friends, or anyone that you have to communicate with and have to get a point across to.

Effective communication is like the oil that runs through the cogs of a machine, making it run smoothly, efficiently, and hopefully silently. Ask any mechanic what the most tragic sound is, and they will tell you the grinding, knocking sound of an awesome motor that no longer has any oil going through it.

Human interaction is essential in wanting to establish a connection with other people and is fundamental in building any kind of relationship. A mere glance, the unenthusiastic hello, or handing out of memos are all forms of communication by which people can convey the message towards the other person. There is no limit as to where interaction can be applied, and there is simply no chance that a person can run out of ways to express themselves.

An effective communication skill makes it so much easier to be understood and listened to, leaving you feeling much calmer and more appreciated, thus eliminating a lot of tension that people have in their lives.

Super basic

Essentially a copy paste job of the fundamentals communication and workplace professionalism. If it’s your first exposure to these topics, then it’s worthwhile. If not, you may find a new insight or two, but you’re not likely to come away having learned much. And there’s very little on the science of communication - the explanations are mostly intuitive.

very poorly written and read.

Feels like it was read by a automated voice machine and same with text - just definitions of types of communication, no examples, no real life solutions.
Not helpful.

This is a fantastic book.

I was very satisfied when I purchased this book. This is really an excellent guide on effective communication. I was actually impressed by how much useful information squeezed in such a short book.

Honest and practical

Excited to finish this book. It is honest and straight forward. It doesn't have that unrealistic positive magic pill vibe. It says things as they are and that it takes time, practice and effort to develop your social skills to the level you want them to be.

Great practical audio book!

Great book. This is different than many of the other self-help books. Too many books like this can be vague, full of platitudes, etc. Or you listen a chapter and think "Great, but how do I for forward?" There is just a very organized useful practicality about it.

This is an excellent book, it really helps

This is an excellent book, it really helps, with the skills, I need to learn!!! I appreciate learning these skills, so I can socialize, better!! More intended for shy people, with a chapter for those with Aspberger syndrome. I had hoped to have more of the latter.

Fantastic

I have never felt like authors of social skills books really *got* me, but this author did. He mentions people who'd like more friends but are introverted/content alone enough not to really push themselves too hard about improving social skills. I was stuck in this odd in-between place, where I wanted more but was sort of okay with less. This book is already helping me to move past this non-useful mentality with practical tips. Thank you, author!

An excellent in-depth resource

Well Spoken , easy to understand and this would be an ideal addition to high school and college resource centers. The book has value for all ages and stages of life. The author's website has been used extensively at our house and helped our son overcome some of his anxieties in social groups. As parents it gave us greater insight and was a great starting point for conversations.

Realistic guide to building better social skills.

This is the first book I would recommend to anyone who is having difficulty with shyness, awkwardness, or social challenges.. There's a great deal of practical, down to earth advice in this book. I've listen too many other books in a similar vein which make a bunch of wild promises and feel closer to your typical "self-help" book for lack of a better term. This isn't one of those books.

So badly read as to be unlistenable

Ironically the reader is monotonous and robotic which makes it difficult to listen to and certainly impedes the quality of the message.

Outdated

Quite honestly I could have written this book. Unless you are a complete novice I would pass on this. Some of the advice given is very 1970’s.
