Story
Most of us are quite relaxed and confident when we're with our friends and family. We can tell a story or even tell a joke. But put us on a platform and we can feel very different. When we speak to an audience, we often put on a public mask; and use a different voice. Why can't we seem to be ourselves when we give a talk? In this audiobook, we will look at all aspects of spoken communication, from structure right through to delivery. We will learn how to have a conversation with our audience - to be ourselves - so that we connect with them every time we speak.

Story
In Joel's Schwartzberg's 10-plus years as a strategic communications trainer, the biggest obstacle he's come across - one that connects directly to nervousness, stammering, rambling, and epic fail - is that most speakers and writers don't have a point. They typically have just a title, a theme, a topic, an idea, an assertion, a catchphrase, or even something much less. This book shows you how to identify your point, leverage it, stick to it, and sell it and how to train others to identify and successfully make their own points.

Publisher's Summary
If you want to discover the real power of effective communication and how to improve your skills, then keep reading!
Possibly the most important skill you could ever learn is how to communicate effectively with other people; having the right type of effective communication skill will help you in all areas of your life; that could be in your work, with your partner or spouse, with your friends, or anyone that you have to communicate with and have to get a point across to.
Effective communication is like the oil that runs through the cogs of a machine, making it run smoothly, efficiently, and hopefully silently. Ask any mechanic what the most tragic sound is, and they will tell you the grinding, knocking sound of an awesome motor that no longer has any oil going through it.
Human interaction is essential in wanting to establish a connection with other people and is fundamental in building any kind of relationship. A mere glance, the unenthusiastic hello, or handing out of memos are all forms of communication by which people can convey the message towards the other person. There is no limit as to where interaction can be applied, and there is simply no chance that a person can run out of ways to express themselves.
An effective communication skill makes it so much easier to be understood and listened to, leaving you feeling much calmer and more appreciated, thus eliminating a lot of tension that people have in their lives.

Super basic
Essentially a copy paste job of the fundamentals communication and workplace professionalism. If it’s your first exposure to these topics, then it’s worthwhile. If not, you may find a new insight or two, but you’re not likely to come away having learned much. And there’s very little on the science of communication - the explanations are mostly intuitive.

Great book. This is different than many of the other self-help books. Too many books like this can be vague, full of platitudes, etc. Or you listen a chapter and think "Great, but how do I for forward?" There is just a very organized useful practicality about it.

Fantastic
I have never felt like authors of social skills books really *got* me, but this author did. He mentions people who'd like more friends but are introverted/content alone enough not to really push themselves too hard about improving social skills. I was stuck in this odd in-between place, where I wanted more but was sort of okay with less. This book is already helping me to move past this non-useful mentality with practical tips. Thank you, author!

Realistic guide to building better social skills.
This is the first book I would recommend to anyone who is having difficulty with shyness, awkwardness, or social challenges.. There's a great deal of practical, down to earth advice in this book. I've listen too many other books in a similar vein which make a bunch of wild promises and feel closer to your typical "self-help" book for lack of a better term. This isn't one of those books.
