Publisher's summary

Emma Cooper is determined to fulfill her mother's dying wish to scatter her ashes with Aiden Sheffield in Linx, Texas. Just one problem. Why Texas and who the hell is Aiden Sheffield? The only clue is a faded piece of her mother's stationary. Emma imagines Aiden is a former love of her mother's, but when she meets the beautiful, damaged stranger, she realizes her assumptions couldn't be more wrong. He's hot and young. And Emma is as confused as ever.

Aiden Sheffield would rather go to hell than Linx. Who does Emma think she is disrupting his carefully built life? The last thing the Marine needs is to slice open the sealed wounds of his painful past. Yet, as he gets to know the lovely Emma, a woman who manages to smile even though she's lost everything, he changes his mind. He will not let her go to hell alone.

But neither is prepared for the devastating evil waiting for them at the end of the road. It might just destroy them.

Contains mature themes.

Twisty, angsty love...

This was the first book by this author that I’ve listened to and it was a great listening experience overall. The characters have an unusual relationship that all hinges on the heroine’s dead mother. The hero is a tortured soul with a terrible past and lots of secrets. The heroine is finishing her mothers last request. The story has a lot of depth and turns with a great finish. Narration was also very well done.

Elizabeth Hart is the worst narrator

She lost my vote the minute she said "Butt Falls, Oregon" instead of "Butte Falls, Oregon." A first requirement of the job of audiobook narrator should be proper pronunciation. Just a thought.

Creative storyline and awesome narrators!

I really liked this story because it was an actual original storyline (to me anyway). Twists and turns and I also related to the couple. Narration was enjoyable and that was expected because I was looking for ElizabethHart who is a new favorite of mine and was happy to see her paired with Alexander Cendese as he has done an excellent job on many other books that I've listened to. Highly recommend this audiobook!

Family

Former Marine Aiden Sheffield could never have known how his life would change in an instant.

Emma Cooper could never have known how fulfilling her mother's last wish would change her life for ever.

Aiden and Emma could never have forseen how their meeting would put them on a collision course with true evil.

Going home and facing your painful past has never been more dangerous. Sometimes the real monster is a part of your family. And sometimes hell is a place called Linx, Texas.

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Right!

I listened to this highly emotional tale of true love conquering all for free Audible Escape. Alexander and Elizabeth do any amazing job portraying the complex characters and plotline.

Warning! The book contains mature themes, including extreme cruelty that might act as a trigger for some readers.

10 STARS

Once of my favorites this year! I absolutely drank this story up! Emma and Aiden are perfect for each other! The heartbreak and secrets and mystery are all very well written and performed! I wont go in detail too much but it is definitely worth the credit! Loved every second!

Good!

I enjoyed listening to this book. I liked everything except the issue with the dad towards the end too much was going on from beginning it was realistic but at some point it became just a little over the top. But still worth the listen.

..Ok

This book reminded me how much I love descriptive writing- mainly because I felt it lacked a great deal. I caught myself mentally adding to some parts... searching my mind for ways to describe a scenario further or just MORE. It's a good story but I wouldn't go out of my way recommend it. I did enjoy the narration for the most part, I just wish Aiden's parts didn't read like an action story. It was very fast, clipped, nearly overlapping and therefore lacking connection and overall (feeling?)
