Publisher's summary

A vampire and a scientist’s fates are passionately entwined in a race against time in this thrilling romance in the #1 New York Times best-selling “utterly absorbing and deliciously erotic” (Angela Knight, New York Times bestselling author) Black Dagger Brotherhood series.

In the venerable history of the Black Dagger Brotherhood, only one male has ever been expelled—but Murhder’s insanity gave the Brothers no choice. Haunted by visions of a female he could not save, he nonetheless returns to Caldwell on a mission to right the wrong that ruined him. However, he is not prepared for what he must face in his quest for redemption.

Dr. Sarah Watkins, researcher at a biomedical firm, is struggling with the loss of her fellow scientist fiancé. When the FBI starts asking about his death, she questions what really happened and soon learns the terrible truth: Her firm is conducting inhumane experiments in secret and the man she thought she knew and loved was involved in the torture.

As Murhder and Sarah’s destinies become irrevocably entwined, desire ignites between them. But can they forge a future that spans the divide separating the two species? And as a new foe emerges in the war against the vampires, will Murhder return to his Brothers...or resume his lonely existence forevermore?

Just a little off...

I'll start off by saying Ward is "ALWAYS" an automatic buy for me. She is the only author I buy in hardcover and audio. Soooooo... IMO after anticipating Murhder's story for about the last 8 or 10 books I had a hard time connecting to either Murdher or Sarah -- for me they were just okay.

And V just didn't feel like V. All the brothers acted out of character in fact, in regards to Murhder!?? Only Rhage seemed recognizable. The story arc felt too predictable, somewhat contrived and some things were rushed or glossed over too conveniently. However parts of it were amazing -- lots does happen! The ending promises us that the future is about to get very interesting and uncertain! I personally can't wait to see where she'll take us and the Brotherhood!

Is it credit worthy? Would I recommend this? -- Yes.

Jim Francine absolutely owns this series ...he is the voice of the BDB and BDL. When I hear his voice I am immediately swept away to Caldwell, NY! Despite my less than 5 star review, you J R Ward still remain my "FAVORITE" author in the paranormal romance genre and of course I will be pre-ordering my hardcover and audio copies of Blood Truth!

Another mystery unraveled

Can’t believe this is number 17 and everyone I have devoured, now I can’t wait for the next one. JR Ward has a unique way of telling you a story about her beloved vampires that to me is irresistible, I feel I know them all personally. In addition to that her wit, the banter between the brothers, the love they exude, the loyalty and compassion is heartfelt.
I am so glad we finally get to hear Murhders story. He has been talked about in tidbits in several books and now the mystery of him is unraveled, and he has a love with the strong Dr. Sarah Watkins. Sarah will be an amazing addition to the family.
So glad for John Mathew, and the feisty Xhex, can now breathe easily. I hope I haven’t said to much don’t want spoilers. Just know this story is fantastic and the story wouldn’t be the same if Jim Frangione didn’t tell it, to me he is part of the brotherhood.

Awesome Sauce

Loved it all. Muhrder n Sera were wonderful together. I don’t want to give away any spoilers about John and Zhex. J. R. Ward has the Rice Krispies snap-crackle-popping again. A definite read/listen

J.R. May I have my emotions back please!

Dr. Sarah Watkins is smart, compassionate, and brilliant in her field. The work she does as a scientist is world renowned. When her Fiancé’ dies unexpectedly, she is left alone and confused. The circumstances don’t seem right. Yes, he was a diabetic, but he himself was a doctor and knew how to take care of himself. When a government agent comes around and starts asking questions, she knows something is amiss. After going through some of his belongings, Sarah comes across a thumb drive that may have clues to what her Fiancé was working on before he died. She needs answers and the only place to get them is at the lab where she worked.
Murhder ... powerful, alpha, vampire. Expelled from the Black Dagger Brotherhood, he’s haunted by visions of a female vampire that he couldn’t save. His plan was to rescue her, but all missions don’t go as planned and he had to make a difficult choice. After receiving letters from the female, he solicits an audience with Wrath to ask for help to find her. He can’t go on trying to figure out what happened to the female and her unborn young and he is determined to see how she has fared. What he finds breaks his heart and he is determined to find her young and save him from her same fate.
The Good: I didn’t think this series could get any better, but in true J.R form, Murhder’s story is gut wrenching perfection!
The Bad: I was pissed at the Brothers for not giving Murhder a chance. They chose to believe that he was truly insane. They treated him like crap.
The Ugly: Although this was a story of fiction, the practice of testing medicine, cures, diseases, etc. on any species is deplorable.
I can’t say enough about this listen! Murhder and Sarah were simply made for each other. They were magnetic and tense. He was the strength she needed to keep pushing and searching for a way to help the young in Murhder’s care and she was the gentle spirit that allowed him to feel something other than hurt, regret, and anguish. He was in awe of her and she was truly fascinated by him. J.R Ward is a genius and when you read or listen to her words, you become enraptured by the essence of these characters. The Black Dagger Brotherhood have been around for a long time and with each new release, it’s as if you’re having a reunion with old friends. They come to life with every story and they each have a magnificent story to tell. Just when I thought Vishous was my favorite Brother, Murhder cast a spell on me that will not be broken any time soon. The way this was written shows us why J. R. Ward is a true MVP. I cried, I laughed, I felt sorrow, held my breath in one moment and hitched it in the next. If I could give this book a million stars, I would! An EBR Must Read! 5 Brilliant Stars!

Murhder is back!!!!!

Murhder is back!!!!! The author brought back so much in this story and the very reason I fell inlove with it. All of the Brotherhood are on board in this book, however John Matthew and Xhex play a large part for many reasons. We get a human doctor also who works for a company that is experimenting on vampires? The narrator brought this story to life in so many ways. Each character I felt like were there talking to me. Fantastic story and I can not wait to see what Mrs. Ward has instore for us next.

Entranced As Always!

JR Ward doesn't disappoint, ever. From the first word to the very last, I was entranced, sucked in and spent my entire day submerged into the lives of the brothers once again. Just as the other brothers had, Murhder won my heart. His female, just as amazing as the others and the two questions I have had for quite some time were finally answered. John Matthew is finally where he belongs, and our glorious Lassiter is finally out of the Scribe Virgin's closet.

I absolutely LOVE this book!
