Publisher's Summary

Only something as important as her best friend's wedding to mob boss Gabriel Moretti could allow Nika Paynne a reprieve from captivity. Her abusive husband has kept her under his thumb with footage of her beloved brother, Caleb, killing another man. But the respite from her violent life isn't the only draw. Vincente Romani - Gabriel's deadliest guardian - will be one of the best men at the wedding, and Nika has lingering thoughts about the fascinating mobster...covetous thoughts that may put her life in danger.

With the heartbreak he's suffered and the brutality he effortlessly delivers, Vincente knows he's the last person who can offer Nika a happily ever after. But his vow remains. He will do everything in his power to free his redhead from her violent prison - even if that means losing her forever.

In the second thrilling and passionate Wanted Men book, a dangerous line is drawn between loyalty to the mob and loyalty to one's heart.

Great Narration!

Any additional comments?

My only gripe is that after the suspenseful anticlimax, Vincent kept dragging his martyr complex on and on it just got tiresome! Plus I can't believe that the character of Caleb who is suppose to be this big bad biker gang leader gets caught by this crazy guy who has no skills no smarts and no muscles to boot and manages to get the drop on him twice, that is not a plausible scenario. Is Caleb's character suppose to be clumsy, dumb, or just a side-kick that gets knocked around or what?...then why have his character as a VP of a well known biker gang? Heh! I recommend the first book and I hope the third book is as good as the first one but this second book..not worth listening to again..too much angst and guilt and denial and just plain frustration on these characters ugh! But the narrator did a great job on the voices!!

So/So listen.... very sllllooooowwwww at first!

Would you try another book from Nancy Haviland and/or Scott Schumaker?

I am not sure. This story was very slow and descriptive ... to the point of being boring.

Would you be willing to try another book from Nancy Haviland? Why or why not?

I am not certain. Sometimes I give author's another shot if the story line sounds appealing.

What aspect of Scott Schumaker’s performance would you have changed?

His voice was not appealing to me. I hated his "female" voice. His male voice was fine.

Do you think The Salvation of Vengeance needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

NO!!!!!! It was painful enough to listen to the first one!

Any additional comments?

Had a bit of the second book blues, but still good

Overall the story furthered the plot and I will get the next book that comes out BUT this book had me a bit aggravated with the implausibility of it and the constant internal dialogue of "He/She doesn't want me, how could He/She"..which both the leading man and woman each had what felt like 50+ times!

Vincent is the the second in command of the Italian Mafia, as well as a business man, but usually his business involves being an executioner and enforcer for the Italian Mob.

Nicca is the sister of Caleb who is high up in a MC gang who usually play on the wrong side of the law, so she has a certain moral flexibility when it comes to violence and enforcement. Sadly, Nicca was blackmailed into a sham of a marriage by a violent sociopath who recorded her brother killing someone...she gets beaten regularly but can't leave until she finds that recording...but when Vincent accidentally sees her back full of bruises her careful plans of protecting her brother go out the window because Vincent will NOT allow a woman to be abused in any way.

The idea of an abuse victim, and I mean really bad violent abuse, finding comfort in the arms of a man who performs violence for a living just seemed totally implausible to me. I still listened to the whole thing but it didn't sit well with me as far as being plausible. Nice to visit that world again though and looking forward to Max's book next.

Narrator was better this time, didn't try to assign stereotypical gay voices to the male leads but the women still sound horrible!

Overrated series!

The Salvation of Vengeance and its earlier sister novel are highly rated at Audible and Amazon. I purchased both books at deep discounts. Neither is worth an Audible credit,

Same old story line.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Not really they are all the same.

What could Nancy Haviland have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

If she and all the other authors would come up with something different it would be nice. All the women do the same, someone they love is in trouble, they and only they can rescue them, they either are fooled or they get caught and need rescuing themself. Would be nice if they weren't so stupid, but what the hell I guess if they didn't feel like they were the only one who could do the saving nobody would buy the story. And don't get me started on the mind crap. Are all people so insecure or is it just the authors that think that they are. I feel like I am the only person who can read the signs if someone is interested in you or not. God forbid someone puts themselfs out there swallowing there precious pride. He has to say I love you first no she has to what the ___. Or I am not good enough what can I offer him/her give me a break If you feel that way DON'T start something to begin with.

Which character – as performed by Scott Schumaker – was your favorite?

pretty much all of them

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

NO movies do the same thing very boring

SUSPENSE, SPUNK, & SUPER ALPHA - YEAH !!

The "Wanted Men" Series has become my new favorite. The first one with Gabriel & Eva was superb, but I really wanted Vincent & Nika to find happiness - they both so deserved it. The author is a great story teller and Mr. Schumaker is the wonderful varying voices of the males in this series; but I only gave him 3 starts because he really, really needs to hone is female voices; they really do sound like a man trying to make fun of a woman's voice (in my opinion). I can't wait for the next in the series to come to Audible.

EXTREME ANGST! Becomes annoying!

Wow this book was full of angst, more than a historical romance novel written in the 1980's, Seriously, I am not kidding.

Nika "does he want me? does he not want me?" over and over again. geez..
Vincente "does she really like me? Why would she like me?" blah blah blah

Vincente is a huge tattooed 6'5" strong sexy underboss for the mob and had so many deeeeep issues. It was insane, he can't get over anything. At 60% there is still wishy washy angst. At 75% they finally have sex! (and for those of you wondering, its not erotica, it is well written) then at 77% we are back to angst all the way to the end until FINALLY he decides he is good enough.

Nika was a great character, she was strong, of course she had to have one TSTL moment, but that was okay. She went through a lot of crap and still looked on the bright side of things.

The story line and plot were good. And this book could have been a 10 star book if all that wishy washy angst had been minimized.. a lot.

As for the narration I thought it was very very good. He gave everyone their own distinct voices, kept the voices from the previous book the same. Yay for that. He also did the female voices very well. He put just the right enough emotion in as well. His reading voice was good and did not blend in with the characters voices. Which was very good too. I would listen to him again for sure.

This was a free read free listen on KU so it was a good deal. Only because I didn't have to pay for it. Otherwise I would have been even more annoyed with all the angst.

10 STARS!

Have you listened to any of Scott Schumaker’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

He really does a great job all the way around. He could work on his female voice alittle. Really though these books deserve 2 narrators.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Where Vin tells Gab how he feels about Nika.

Any additional comments?

This is a great series. You get involved in all the characters. There is action/love/romance/passion. You can read these books as stand alones, but you would be missing out on some great guys/gals. I didn't get bored once. The Heros are strong/alpha yet respectable males. The Heroines are strong as well, not some slutty/whiny brats. I really can't say anything bad about the series. Maybe I could have used a little more funny moments between the main characters.

Another great story by Nancy Haviland

Funny, sassy and emotional...
It's a page turner that keeps you on edge while reading it... Loved her first book but this one was closer to home while reading it. It felt so real and raw. The ending was how it should be.

Got frustrated with heroine

The heroine was TSTL for my liking and too many secondary characters. The only saving grace was the narrator's voice.

Tall Dark and Brooding

Where does The Salvation of Vengeance rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

If you can get past the weak premise for the whole story then the characters were very fun especially the hero who was quite entertaining. I do wish the female characters were as fun. I read this one first and based on it I am going to give the first one in the series a go. Guarantied happy ever after which I always enjoy.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Maxism, I looked online and his will be the next book due out later in the year so I am looking forward to that.
