Publisher's summary

SAM....

Samuel “Sam” Singleton has set aside his unsavory past, as a riverboat gambler and sometimes hired gun, to take on employment as security for Knight Gleason’s Gambling Galleria in Little Creede. Sam and Knight go back a ways, and Sam figures he owes Knight for some valuable mentorship. Then he meets a stowaway thief in the Galleria kitchen, and it changes the direction of his life.

IZZY....

Isadora “Izzy” McDougall is on the run from a dangerous family situation. On the road for days, hungry and exhausted, she takes shelter in a desperate bid to find food. Instead, Sam finds her.

SAFER, TOGETHER....

Sam’s never been the nurturing type, but Izzy’s sweetness and innocent bravery touches his heart. He finds himself willing to protect her from her scheming family at any cost, even if it means tying himself down with a wife.

Love this series

I love this series. this book is a complete standalone from the other books with two new characters. you do get some updates and mentions of characters from previous books. I really like this series because this author doesn't shy away from danger against her characters. I know that sounds weird, but there are so many books where the authors don't let anything happen to their characters. I'm not trying to support violence, but the setting is the "wild west" and gun slinging and violence just seems to be s part of it. In this series, the h and H of each book to get shot, hit, beaten, etc. It really adds to the suspense and tension in the books.

Great and engaging listen!

Dear author - Thank you for this opportunity to enjoy your book in audio.

Simple story with depth. Greatly thought through a historical story. Headstrong main characters. Everyone knew when to be brave and when to let other help. I did enjoy this book very much.

PS I was given this review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

One of the best historical western romances were!

When Izzy is caught trying to steal food from the Galleria kitchen, she thought the first thing that would happen if she would be sent home to her abusive father. When Sam the security at the galleria realizes she’s a petite woman dressed as a boy he feels the need to take her in and help her and he does by giving her a job and a place to stay in the Galleria employee Brahms. All is well and Izzy cannot believe her a luck, But Izzy is leery when Sam keeps insisting she tell him why she cannot go home. He starts to build her trust though when he tells her a man came looking for her claiming to be her brother and Sam and the sheriff Josh denied ever seeing her. This is not only when it starts to trust them, but when the adventure really begins. I loved this book. If you are tired of historical westerns being so similar to other westerns you have read, you’re in luck this book was written for readers with an IQ and a longing to read Kluber plots. When they kiss for the first time I was so anxiously waiting for it. They did have a small and detailed sex scene which I usually don’t like but the plot was so good I didn’t mind it at all. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves historical western romances this is the book for you. I can’t say enough good things about it.

Delightful Historical Fiction!

Izzy’s McDougall’s home life was unraveling faster than a moth eaten sweater! When she saw an opportunity to run, she took it, and she ran for her life! Days later, Sam Singleton, head of security for Gleason’s Gambling Galleria in Little Creede Colorado caught Izzy where she shouldn’t be! Poor Sam! He didn’t even feel the sting when Cupid’s arrow slammed home! After hearing her story, all Sam knew was that Izzy’s nefarious family would get to her over HIS dead body! “The Runaway Wife” is a fantastic, heart in your throat, edge of your seat, addition to the Brides of Little Creede Series, and like it’s predecessors, it’s beautifully written, authentic to time and place, and a truly delightful listen! I loved the characters, some new to this story and some familiar from previous volumes, all fully developed and so real feeling! The dialogue, sometimes humorous, sometimes emotional, at all times convincingly believable, is beautifully written, and the plot, no spoilers, but holy moly, this one gets the devious family of the year award! I have to say, I loved how it played out, and without giving anything away, I was very satisfied at the story’s end! The narration, like with the previous books is the series, was beautifully done and truly a joy to the ear! I loved everything about this one. Five fantastic stars!
