Publisher's Summary

Standing before Feldstone Manor, site of so many happy memories, Rose Davenport feels nothing but dread. Her family’s annual visit to the stately home was once brightened by her friendship with the earl’s youngest son, William, but everything changed the day his elder brother was disinherited and William became heir to his father’s earldom. From that moment, William made it clear he has no interest in continuing an acquaintance with Rose. Heartbroken, she sets out to prove that she will simply not be ignored - or outdone - by the arrogant future lord of the manor. When his elder brother marries for love, William’s entire life changes in an instant. He does not have the same option to marry whom he chooses, and he must let go of the feelings he has harbored for his dear friend, Rose. He steels himself against her annual visits, determined to keep his feelings for her a secret. But when he makes the hasty promise to marry within six months, he never dreams that his actions will lead Rose to impulsively undertake the same challenge.

Basic

This is an extremely basic romance with absolutely no memorable plot line or characters. Skip it.

Not my favorite

The Proper Charade and Scandel were better for me. This character was whiny and annoying to me.

A clean regency romance that I’ll read again

I will admit it took me a little while to get “hooked” on this one, but once I did, I couldn’t put it down. It’s an interesting look at how being unbalanced, even when your being dutiful, can be harmful. As always, I enjoyed this author’s humor. I definitely recommend that you read this if you are a proper regency romance fan.

Delightful

This love story is hilarious. The comical way Esther weaves the story left me smiling and sometimes outright laughing! I never found it dragging or uninteresting. As a Christian, I do wish she wouldn't try to stir sensual feelings as she describes the brief physically intimate parts.

Aubrey Warner is part of what made it so delightful! Her acting was wonderful and her voices realistic and entertaining.

Tiresome.

Rose is one of the most annoying characters I have ever come across and William is a weakling who I would not give the time of the day. She behaves so pitifully any behavior thrown at her by William she accepts like she could not do any better and had to take his mistreatment. She became very desperate and it got so annoying. stoy was so long and drawn out. waste waste and more waste.

Made me laugh out loud

Such a fun story! Listened to it on a road trip and had a silly smile pasted to my face. Aubrey Warner did a fantastic job narrating.
