He establishes credibility by showing us his character though stories of his personal challenges to accomplish incredible things including winning an Olympic gold medal with the Canadian crew team, and attempting to row across the Atlantic Ocean! His competence comes through in his references to academic research scattered throughout. The book is practical in that it's easy to find topics of interest, and he provides lists of action items to do at the end of each chapter. It's profound in that he tells the gripping story of his near-death experience of being inside the upside-down water-filled cabin of their human-powered boat after it had capsized. He wisely emphasizes a perspective acknowledging our own mortality when seeking meaning and purpose. Specifically, I appreciate his discussion of safety. Not least of all, he's funny and engaging! I enjoyed listening to him read the audiobook, especially since he does voices of the people he quotes.
Deserves to be a bestseller!
