Good story ... but too long

It's a good story, but everytime you think it is about to end it limps into another episode.

Excellent book, excellently read

What did you love best about The Rent Collector?

The characters were well-developed. When I finished reading the book, I felt like I would miss my old friends.

What did you like best about this story?

I like that the characters had interesting backgrounds. In the end, there was an understanding of why they had become who they were. It offered interesting insight into the complications of the human condition.

Which scene was your favorite?

I enjoyed the scene when the two main characters said their good-byes in the dump.

Who was the most memorable character of The Rent Collector and why?

Sopiap for sure. She was a difficult and complicated woman. As her story unfolded, she became very lovable.

Any additional comments?

I highly recommend this book. The woman who narrated was excellent. Her various voices were distinct in unique. Her narration pulled me into the story.

Book Club favorite

I was prepared to not like this book, but it turned out to be one of my favorite reads so far. A story within a story, themes of hope, redemption, love, this book had them all and more. I highly recommend, especially for book clubs. We had a very lively discussion. I was one of the few who listened to it. I felt the narrator added to my enjoyment of the book.

Everyone should read this book!

A very good story that will open the eyes of all to how genocides occur, and are allowed within a governments own country.

This is a book of hope.

Inspirational

At first I thought the book was depressing because of the horrible setting. But the more I read and realized the life lessons being taught I started to enjoy it and finished the book loving it!!
