Publisher's summary

Union army officer Cameron Scott is used to being obeyed, but nothing about this journey to Lake Tahoe has gone as expected. He's come to fetch his daughter and nephew and seek revenge on the people who killed his brother. Instead he finds himself trapped by a blizzard with two children who are terrified of him and stubborn but beautiful Gwen Harkness, who he worries may be trying to keep the children.

When danger descends on the cabin where they're huddled, Cam is hurt trying to protect everyone and now finds Gwen caring for him, too. He soon realizes why the kids love her so much and wonders if it might be best for him to move on without them. When she sees his broken heart, Gwen decides to help him win back their affection - and in the process he might just win her heart, as well.

Story left you hanging

I understand series that finish the story later but while this part was good, it left parts it should have completed in this portion. Otherwise I suggest waiting for all 3 parts before starting the series, which is a good one.

Mary Connealy does it again!

A story full of humor, faith, resilience and love. I really enjoyed this journey back to the mountains. I am looking forward to the next installment of the tale.

Love the story, But this is BOOK 2 not 3 as indicated

All three books were great, but it would have been so much better reading them in order! Audible needs to fix their error of the book order.

I simply love this narrator Morgan Hallett. She reads fast enough to keep me interested and is one of the best I’ve heard on audible. Soooo happy she narrated all three books!

I LOVE WONDERFULLY WRITTEN CHRISTIAN NOVELS! Thank you Mary Connealy. You did an awesome job.

Book 2 not three.

Hopefully audible will fix thaf. The book continues the story of the old characters and adds a few. I've read better, but this book, it's references of faith in God and the story line it self earns 5 stars. The narrator gets 4. Quite often if you're not listening close you can get confused as to.which character is speaking. All in all it held my interest and is worth listening to. I'm curious if there will be more or if this is the end. If so, I would buy.

I really wanted to like this book

After reading the first book in the series I was interested to see what happened and looking forward to the release of this book. But while the first book had been not great, but was at least intriguing, this one fell far short of my hopes.

As I was listening I was constantly bombarded with inaccuracies which were so many and so consistent that I found myself getting pulled out of the story time and again. I love a good story and the last thing I want is to be jarred out of the tale when my mind notices things that make the story seem less than real. And as someone who has lived in the Pacific Northwest mountains for most of my life, there were many things that were less than real in this story.
