Publisher's Summary

If you want to live a happy life, full of joy, serenity, and love, you have to focus your attention on your relationships.

"...Relationships actually drive the world...."

If you want to understand what in your life has the power to make you happy or make you cry, you surely need to know how relationships work and how deeply they influence all your life's aspects.

In this audiobook, I will guide you through a deep analysis of them. In particular, I’ll explain you which are the most common problems in a family's relationship, friendship's relationship, and love's relationship. I’ll give you a valid key to understanding how a relationship works.

I’ve divided relationships into three main kinds:

  • Family ("...The family is often said to be a mother, a father and a child, all living under the same roof. Some people may say that family can be anything that involves love....")
  • Friendship ("...Friendship can be regarded as a close link between two people, usually based on mutual experience, common interests, intimacy, and emotional attachment....")
  • Love ("...Love means feeling and acting with love. People say that love is pure, painful, sweet, and terrible - suddenly. The truth is that love is a basic necessity in everyone's life....")

What’s about you? Are you tired of living an unhappy relationship? You don’t have enough of relationships which breaks only for lack of dialogue or misunderstanding?

Give yourself a chance for happiness! Order this fantastic audiobook now!

Outdated

I really like Gottman's research and other books, so I thought I this one might also be good. I stopped part-way through Chapter 1 after it said that friends made over the internet can't have a close bond and few other things that have since been debunked like communication can solve anything. This book was written in the late 90's, and the psychology of relationships has come a long way in the last 20 years. I didn't want to keep reading because I'm not sure what is still good advice. I'm sure it gives some good insight, just be wary that the book reflects the knowledge of the time, and we now know more than we used to.
I highly recommend some of his other, more recent books though.

Clarity and healing in one book

This book is a gentle self-directed healing program for anyone raised by an "emotionally absent" (which can include cold, affectionate, neglectful or even abusive) mother. Working through it slowly, taking as much as I can tolerate at a time,

Very Helpful Book

Excellent at explaining hard topics. Good exercises to do that help and showing how to overcome the holes where mother failed. This book is not about your mother but about you and how you can mother yourself and find people who meet the inner child needs.

Good read for self-healing

This is a good book for those seeking to further their knowledge and understanding. Past hurts have a way of chaining people to the dark past, and this book sheds some light on how to loosen the strongholds of bitterness, anger, and destructive blaming.

I dearly love and appreciate

There were many eye opening things in this book but the most compelling was discovering that my mother, whom I dearly love and appreciate, was an emotionally absent mother. This was amazing to me because it bleed over into my own emotional absenteeism or the discovery that I too had elements of this in my life. Self discovery can be a powerful tool for change.

Profound read

Very insightful book. She really gets to the deep inner core of the questions - what’s wrong with me? Why can’t I feel loved! Why does love make me anxious?
Why do I feel hollow? Vague?
She reveals the subtle hidden wounds of neglect...and offers hope for healing ourselves.

Extraordinarily helpful.

If this title has the slightest pull for you, I'd recommend you read it. To have someone articulate feelings and issues that had been swirling around unnamed for years was in itself highly therapeutic. This book is not about blaming someone

This book is incredibly powerful and helped guide me through a very tough time in my life when my relationship with my narcissistic fiance ended. It helped me see that his behaviors were out of my control and that I needed to quit blaming myself for not doing more, being better, trying harder.

Great book for egalitarian couples

My fiancé and I are loving this book! If you're looking in particular for a book that doesn't succumb to societal gender roles, like we were, this one is for you!

Best relationship book I've ever read!

I have purchased this book for 5 of my friends who are having relationship issues. My marriage counselor suggested it. I've read many books on marriage and relationships but this book was the turning point for me. Well worth your time weather you are dating or married.

Must read for all couples

Excellent book for couples in all stages of their relationship. Besides the basics of how to/not argue Gottman dives deep into each of our habits when stressed while working through issues in a relationship. If only I had flash cards to remind me of all the steps to take when I feel I'm drowning in a heated discussion or disagreement........non the less it's a excellent read

Wonderful book, science based results!

The order came super quick and in good quality. The book is awesome. The author really knows what he's doing, and he doesn't waste your time. I find that the principles taught are very true and the advice given is appropriate and masterfully curated. It's the best marriage book I've ever come across, and it could be used for almost any relationship. I think its worth keeping and reading time and time again. Both me and my husband thought it was great.

amazing

Really great refreshing advice. I bought this for my husband on our 10 year anniversary as a reflection on our drive to our vacation destination. It really helped renew what was important in our relationship. The author gives genuine, straight to the point advice, and we both found ourselves nodding in agreement. Great read!

Fiancé and I loved it

The research presented in the book is done with a perfect balance of humor and sentiment. Provided my fiancé and I with new insights into some trouble areas of our relationship and opened the door for some incredibly productive talks.

Best marriage book ever!

This book is excellent for couples of faith or secular couples alike. I heard quote this book in a radio program recently. It would be of value to those who plan to be in relationships as well. The author gives practical information and exercises to participate in that are helpful discussion pieces. It is never too late to work on your relationship and never early enough to begin!

Helpful and rich read for me and my wife

Includes amazing scientific evidence and support for strengthening a marriage. Great read for any couple. My wife and I are a same-sex couple and we feel like this book applies to every kind of couple. We also have a young child, and since having the child we have experienced some struggles of staying connected. This book is a great tool that is helping us reconnect.
