Belongs in Erotica Genre

Too much erotic sex, too little romance in this story that was difficult to follow & was depressing. I skipped lot of it.

Michael and Abigail

This is the second book in the Dark Regency series by Chasity Bowlin, I enjoyed the first book so much I could not wait to listen to this one. This book brings Lord Michael Sutherland, Viscount Ellersleigh, and Abigail Barrows together, we met Michael in the first book, he is the best friend of Rhys who held the starring role in The Haunting of A Duke.

As our story starts Michael has won a country estate in a game of cards, on arrival at Blagdon Hall, he finds it to be very rundown, with only two elderly servants a resident ghost and Abigail Barrows in residence. The estate passed to her cousin on the death of her parents and now that it belongs to Michael Abigale has to leave her home and go and stay with her step-sister and her husband at the neighboring estate. Michael feels bad about this as the reputations of her relatives are nefarious.

The following evening he accepts an invitation to dinner at the neighbouring Hall and finds that Abigale is being pursued by her brother in law, Michael wants to help her but just by being alone with her, even though they are only talking, her reputation would be ruined. The person Michael won Blagdon from is also a guest at the house and whilst Michael is alone with Abigale he is murdered, Michael becomes the prime suspect his only way to avoid the hangman's noose is for Abigale to be his alibi which would mean the ruination of her reputation.

So follows a hasty marriage, encounters with the Hall's resident ghost, several murdered/missing girls together with several attempts on Michael's life. All these things are linked to Abigale's family, antique artifacts, and human sacrifices. As this is the second book in the series, all of the main characters from the first are included, so we get to catch up with Rhys and Emmy, Emmy's sister Larissa and Spencer. Spencer's character played an important part and I look forward to listening to his story, hopefully next or soon.

The historical accuracy/descriptions are very good, the characters become more developed but the book did rely a lot on the sexual side of Michael's relationship with Abigale so bear this in mind when thinking about buying this book. That said the storyline, is exciting and dramatic, if somewhat dark, the sex scenes sizzle and the chemistry is hot.

I particularly enjoyed the narration by Lillian Yves, she did an incredible job of bringing every character to life, all the voices were different but recognizable and for me she made this particular book a joy to listen to.

I was given a copy of this audiobook as a gift and am voluntarily writing my review.

Disappointed

I struggled to finish. At times I slightly lost track of who was the character talking if it was female.

The story started of quite mysterious and wicked. I thought it would be revealed why things happened and whether there was any reasoning as to why it happened the way it did. Did this magic work or not. We shall never know.

I'm frankly disappointed.

Enthralling

I originally read the ebooks as part of a box set of this series and reviewed these on 1st January 2018 on my usual platforms.
I was recently asked if I would like to listen to the audiobook of the second story and because I had enjoyed the books so much I agreed to do this.
This is what I now have to say about this story:
Chasity Bowlin knows just how to combine a regency romance with a bit of heat, mystery, murder, good guys, bad guys and a bit of the occult or witches or special abilities thrown in.
This particular story is a stand-alone but the people involved in all three of the books that I read are close friends and/or siblings and they really care for and look after each other. This is really made clear in each story.
Lillian Yves narrated in her usual splendid way which makes the story even more interesting and entertaining.
These two talented people make a great team and I am happy to recommend both the ebook and the audiobook which I thoroughly enjoyed.
I received an advance copy of the audio and this has been my voluntary and unbiased review of it.

The Redemption of a Rogue

This was a good smexy listen. Lillian Yves did a good job with the narration. Occasionally she had to switch to an accent and she did a great job with that. I received this free copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Can't listen to Liian Yves anymore!!!

I had to stop listening to this narrator during the first chapter. I suffered through her reading of another Chasity Bowlin book and when I saw that she also narrated this'd book, The Redemption of a Rogue, I had to stop listening! I want going to try to return both this book and the other book she narrated, to Audible! Ugh! I will be careful to avoid any books she narrates!

A steamy hot story with a intriguing dark twist!🔥♥️

Redemption of a Rogue is the second book in Chasity Bowlin’s Dark Regency series and it’s definitely a intriguing delightful deliciously hot story! I fell in love with Michael’s character in the first book and was delighted to add his story to my kindle! Michaels book brings a mixture of tortured memories from his childhood into this intriguing story full of mysterious evil murderous mayhem, ghosts and the ultimate unexpected love of his life! Michael wins more than a rundown country estate with a scary as hell resident ghost and a couple of ancient servants in a card game, it also happens to be the home of Abigail Barrows. With both her parents dead, the home had legally passed to her rotten to the core cousin. Michael has found himself in a situation he’d always made sure to stay clear of until the moment he meets the lovely Abigail! I absolutely loved everything about this audiobook from the steamy hot characters, the ghost and this very exciting storyline that has so many twists and turns I’d not expected! It’s very well written and so dang hot I couldn’t even pause it till the end! Now I’m super excited about the next one in this Dark Regency series! Narrator Lillian Yves does a fantastic job with this audiobook bringing all these characters to life!

Judgements Abound

So I've listened to the other stories in this series and I'm quite fond of Michael. He deserved someone who treated him for the kindness he showed, not the rumors she heard. I never warmed up to Abby because of that reason alone. I'm glad I listened to it though. I've enjoyed the series. This one is my least favorite though.
