The Ransom of Red Chief

In the first tale, we follow two workmen on an intriguing journey to Coney Island, where the heartsick and disgruntled Tobin has his palm read. Who knew that palmistry could be so unpredictable? Secondly, a tale of kidnapping gone awry. A little boy, self proclaimed "Red Chief", is taken from his home, and has so much fun he never wants to go back, much to the chagrin of the kidnappers.

Well done. A new old story with a twist and a classic. Loved both. Great narration on Red Chief.

cute story

this was a very cute story. This is good for any age. It has a cute and funny ending. I enjoyed the way the narrator read it.

Beware of Red Chief.

You might want to think twice before kidnapping Red Chief it might not be gratifying.

The family listened to this as we were driving to an outing. We loved the descriptive words and laughed at the self inflicted torture these men got themselves into. I love the big descriptive words that painted a beautiful picture of insanity :)

Two O. Henry stories

Besides The Ransom of Red Chief -- one of the best-known stories by O. Henry (The Gift of the Magi is another) -- this title also includes Tobin's Palm. Both are amusing, well-written, and extremely well narrated by Mr. Harrison. I enjoyed them both, probably more than if I had simply read the stories.

I knew a kid like that.

The story is very clever and fun to listen to. The narration is adequate for the story I feel that maybe a better narrator could bring this story to life more

I really only listened to this because of a sketch I seen on an old episode of SCTV Network 90, they had done an I Henry parody.

2 Stories That Will Entertain.

I've never read O. Henry. But this was a good introduction and B.J. accentuated the stories with great characterization.

Terrible

The concept of The Ransom of Red Chief was amusing. The actual story, however, was not clever and definitely not funny. Lame ending.
