Publisher's summary

What is an elite NFL QB and what separates that player from the others? One answer is the coach they share. In the recent history of the biggest game on Earth, one man is the common thread that connects several of the very best in the sport: Peyton Manning; Ben Roethlisberger; Andrew Luck; and the resurgent Carson Palmer. That coach is Bruce Arians. A larger than life visionary who trained under the tutelage of Bear Bryant, Arians has had a major impact on the development and success of each of these players. For proof beyond the stats, go to the sources.

Known around the game as the "quarterback whisperer", Arians has an uncanny ability to both personally connect with his quarterbacks and to locate what the individual triggers are for that player to succeed. No two quarterbacks are the same. And yet with Arians they always share success. In this audiobook Arians will explain how he does it.

Critic reviews

"Bruce is gonna love you when you need some loving, but he's gonna jump on you when you're not doing right." (Peyton Manning)

"He coaches the way players want to be coached." (Ben Roethlisberger)

"He made players comfortable around him and let everybody have their own personality. He didn't force anybody to be someone they weren't. It may sound a little corny or cheesy, but there's merit to that. I felt comfortable being myself and I felt he had my back." (Andrew Luck)

A great listen for football fans who want to go deeper

First off, I really enjoyed the narrator. They can make or break an audiobook and I felt he did a great job conveying the emotions in the book.

The authors hit the nail on the head as far as I'm concerned going deeper into the minds and actions of what makes elite quarterbacks tick. It motivated me to apply some of these talents and disciplines into my own life and profession.

I found I was able to relate a lot to Bruce through his candid stories and 'IDGAF' attitude. I highly recommend this book to all football fans or aspiring coaches.

A Must Read for NFL Fans

This book was just phenomenal. As a Steelers fan I loved learning about Bruce Arians interaction with Big Ben. But the book is so much more. It gives insights into his relationship with Peyton Manning, Andrew Luck and the Colts, and Carson Palmer with his time with the Cardinals. It also gives an insight into his time with his college Qbs at Temple and other backups he has trained through the years.
This book is a great combination on coaching insight, NFL History, the journeys of an overlooked assistant coach and what it takes to play QB.
I listened to this book on vacation and I LOVED every minute of it.

The man paints a colorful picture.

"No risk it, no biscuit" is a quote every risk taker can live by. Listening to this autobiography was a pleasure and a blessing. Bruce was one of my favorite people to watch coach before the book and is definitely one of my favorites now. The story he told about how he got Manning to shake his pre-game jitters was so fascinating and delved into the human psyche like no other coach possibly could. He is truly the quarterback whisperer and should be proud of his career and book.

A Good Book that is kind of out of order.

There is a lot to love about this book. Life lessons given in the form of good football practices. It's also a good life story of a colorful character (Bruce Arians).

The issue I have with it is it seems like a first draft that was never put in proper order. It jumps around a lot in the timeline, giving it a feeling of someone just talking at a bar about their life. That feel fits the narrative, but it's a little too much. It's almost like Bruce Arians gave a few long interviews and rather than putting things in order, they just stitched it together.

Excellent book! Finished same day I bought it

BA is a perpetually interesting guy. In this he offers up bits of wisdom & character that transcend football... Great stuff, glad I purchased (rough language; put your headphones in if you're listening at work or around small kiddos) 👍🏼👍🏼

Good book for coaches

Great detail on what goes into a coach-qb relationship. BA has worked with some of the best and they all have very different personalities
