Publisher's summary

Stolen from her jungle home and sold to a zookeeper, Pip knows only a world behind bars, a world in which a Pygmy warrior and her giant ape friends are a zoo attraction. She dreams of being human. She dreams of escaping to the world outside her cage.

Then, the dragon Zardon kidnaps her into a new life. Pip rides dragonback across the Island-World to her new school - a school inside a volcano. A school where humans learn to be Dragon Riders. But this is only a foretaste of her magical destiny, for the Dragon Assassins are coming. They have floated an island across the Rift and their aim is nothing less than the massacre of all dragons.

Now, the courage of the smallest will be tested to the utmost. For Pip is the Pygmy Dragon, and this is her tale.

good story bad reader

I dont write reviews most because I dont have time and i am driving as i listen (dont text and drive lol) so hear me out... the story was wonderful every thing i expected out of a dragon book the reader on the other hand should listen to himself once in a while in the beginning i heard stutters or hear him fixing what he said. this as a audiobook listen do not want to hear .... we want clear flowing readers to tell the story..... though towards the middle It got better.... also at the end we dont want to he similar book is you say anything just say the next book or just end the book. if we want to hear the author life story at the end of the book we will buy the paper book no offense to the author

nice start to a series

Would you listen to The Pygmy Dragon again? Why?

yes, I enjoy the story and find a second listen ( or reading) i often see nuances I missed the first time

Who was your favorite character and why?

main character , as much for her pointed thoughts of reactions /habits of the "big people"

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

yes and no Narrator voice and speed was fine , however periodically there was a miss start to a sentence , they were noticable errors and for me broke the flow of the story.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

no but it was an easy one fo rme to start and stop and not lose the story . As a caveat I do most of my listening while walking or driving so I save those I don't want to put down for when I am home and can expect few interruptions .

Wonderful book, less great reader.

Ok. I love love love this book. I've read it several times. A big main theme is escape. It's a word you read/hear often in the book. I almost stopped listening after the first few times the reader pronounced it 'exscape', along with 'exspecially'. He mispronounces very easy words, like 'hopped' - he says 'hoped'. And is it so hard to rewind the recorder to delete your stumbles and start the sentence over instead of leaving them there for all to listen to? It's jarring.
Other than a lackluster performance, I do recommend this book.

I really enjoyed this book

First of all I love dragons. Second I am not much bigger than a pygmy myself, so needless to say this book was perfect for me. I really loved the characters . The book also had a bit of a Harry Potter feel to it at times, which is one of my favorite books. The few things that were choppy in the storey were easily over looked because the book was so much fun and a great listen. I will be listening to all of this authors books.😀

Strange and Different = Uniqueness

The Pygmy Dragon is Pip's story about her journey since she has been kidnapped from her home and island. Pip is a pygmy warrior. During the raid on her island, she was captured and sold to a zoo as part of the wildlife exhibit. Due to her size, she is placed with apes and monkeys.

When the ape that Pip befriended falls ill and able to die, something in Pip, was awaken to stop her ape friend from dying. Since that moment, Pip could see shadow dragon coming and going which prompt the Dragon Zardon to kidnap her to a dragon rider school within a volcano.

Even in her new found place to be finally be a human, Pip is still treated as an outcast for being imprisoned as a primate. Her schoolmates tried every way to humiliate Pip. Her last draw was being accused of cheating on an exam. She was going to run away.

Pip returned to the school when she saw the shadow dragon and Zardon instructed her to warn the school. For doing a good deed, Pip ended up in a disciplinary hearing among dragons. Pip can't help being honest. She informed the dragons that she understood their language. This brings Pip to a possibility that she might be a dragon shifter.

For a pygmy warrior, Pip started her journey from captive to someone who might save the school of dragons and dragon riders.

The Pygmy Dragon incorporates a story about bullying and that even the shortest, strange, or unique person could surprise those who believe that they are entitled. It is a very good story for teenagers who are trying to discover who they are and if there is place in their environment to fit in.

The narrator, Ryan Prizio, delivered a wonderful performance for Pip. As for the school headmaster, the voice could have been a more masculine. It did give the school headmaster, a recognizable voice.

Really Good!

this book is awesome. I started with dragonfriend, and this one is just as good! It took a chapter or 2 to get use to the narrator for the audible book, the story itself was awesome and im ready to start the next book!

Amazing Magical Dragon Story

Any additional comments?

This book is amazing. The young pigmy girl, Pip, was stolen from her home at a young age and took to a zoo. During this story, we see her grow in so many ways. She gets rescued by a dragon and taken to dragon island because unknowingly to Pip, she has magical powers and the dragon who finds her felt her power. While at the dragon riding school Pip gets bullied and picked on by most everyone. No one thinks that she can do anything and even Pip starts to believe this. Dragons are in a battle for their lives and only Pip can save them, but how can a tiny pigmy girl do this? This author takes you to a world unlike any other and keeps you glued to it all the way through until the last page. If you like any story about dragons, this one it for you. I listened to the audiobook and the narrator did a fantastic job. There were a couple chapters that had some repeats but that didn't takeaway from the story.
